The 2012 NASCAR Chase Champion Will Be.....

Denny Hamlin at this point is the odds on favorite but he can't beat himself like he did in 2010. You never really know what the #14 is gonna do(see last year) but they gotta be more consistent. You can't battle for the win one week and run 28th two laps down the next.

I'd love to see Brad or Junior win ,but I'm thinkin Hamlin.

When is the baby due? That could be a huge distraction.

With Edwards not in the chase, Kenseth leaving for JGR and Stenhouse coming to cup next year, Roush will throw everything they've got at the #16 so Biffle may never have this good of a chance again.

Kybu and cousin Carl have nothing to lose. Either one could rip off several wins each and muddy the water.

Wait. Do you think for a minute that Jack Roush has been giving Biffle just 75 percent so far this year?

I think it will be interesting if Kennest or Kez. win it to see how their car manufactures handle next season. But I think I'll just wait to see who NASCAR and Bill France has picked to win it. My guess would be a Hendrick team.

Like what ?Extra tires ? More engines? More crew ?What could he offer them ?

YIKES:eek:

If you look at rule concessions made for one manufacturer since 2007, what Hendrick has done is even more impressive.

I am most impressed by Bill France's ability to rig The Chase from his grave.

I guess you aren't aware that Toyota was the only manufacturer allowed to design a new racing block while NASCAR had told the other 3 no for years. Toyota had a huge advantage when they came in, and nascar made it last longer than it needed to.

So that means Nascar must want a Toyota to win .Right ?

I see your point. Toyota won so many championships NASCAR finally had to relent.

Was Toyota supposed to purposely build a less advanced engine in their first foray into Cup racing?

I didn't mean to upset you. Simply offering an opinion based on what I've seen many teams do in the past.

Whatever resources Biffle needs will be allocated to him before #17 and #99. Although I really don't see Roush sending #17's crew to the #16 team - even though they have a history of costing Biffle and on more than a few occasions.

Not upset . Just unclear what they could do for the Biff . Wondering if he would want to change anything at this point .Why rock the boat ?

no, wise guys. Let all the manufacturers bring their new engine like they asked. Certainly don't hold them off when you know you're going to have to let Toyota design a pushrod racing engine. Toyota enjoyed a couple of very good years before the others caught up.

Maybe it was done that way to convince Toyota to come in, but it was skewed. I think Ford was still working with their very old 351 design.

I believe Greg's crew will be all in and doing everything they can to win this championship. I also believe Carl's crew will be doing a bunch of R&D to help Biffle and also advance the championship run for the 99 next year.

I remember when Stewart joined forces with Haas and people thought they would get sub-par engines. How many engines do you think Stewart would pay for knowing they were the turds coming out of the engine builders shop?

It is either Hamlin or Gordon

Hamlin has been on a really impressive run as of late and I don't see an end to it. Jeff on the other hand is already in chase mode, making up a ton of ground and just getting into the chase.

Hamlin isn't my favorite but I think it's his year. Their peaking at a good time, Grubb for justified reason has something to prove. Hamlin is sensitive and has come across as to delicate and not mentality tough enough. But from what I can see that hasn't been an issue this year. In the end I just think they have the most ability this year to hit on something and over power or dominate better than the others.
Consistency is the greatest asset and needed to finish well in the chase, but you need to be able to win a few along with the consistency.

That's why I wouldn't pick Juniors, Gordons, Truax, or Harvicks to win. I just don't think their fast enough over the 10 races. One bad race and their done because they can't run off enough wins or even top fives to recover. Kenseth is going to the 20 car next year, so he is classed with not a chance group as well.
If any of these finish in the top 5 they should be happy with a good strokers result for those that should finish 8th or worse.

If Hamlin doesn't win, I am thinking Brad K. He is very focused and certainly one of the best, if not the best current driver.

Johnson is third on my list and he certainly knows how to deliver his best chase performance. But I don't think there as sharp as they were in 2009 or before. They just barely beat Hamlin in 2010, and Hamlin was the fastest of the two in that chase.

Kahne is fourth on my list. They can run off the wins, but I still think the three above are better prepared. Stewarts (5th.) has the speed but I think he will have a couple of DNFs or something like fuel injection problems costing him many laps behind the wall, inconsistency will get him.

6th and 7th tied on my list is Biffle, and Boyer.

Harvick @ 18/1 is too good for me to pass up. Didn't he win the first Cup race here? I will spend my fictitious money in that direction.

Dropped a quarter in Madame Swami as I passed her the other day and asked the question " What car will win the 2012 NASCAR Championship" she spit out one of her little cards with a number one it..... unfourtunately no one has serviced Madam Swami in years and the printer was low on ink and the paper very old and wrinkly ...... However I faintly see either a 4 or 8 with another number before or after it! So when you look at the cars in the hunt it thins it down a bit... 11, 48, 14, 2, 16, 15, 88, 17, 29, 56, 5, 24 ;)

However Dink swears it's a 5 and not a 4 or 8

I'll put $100 fictitious money on the 24 at 9/1.
