The Announcers Thread

Probably part of why NASCAR is moving to USA: NBC has picked up Sunday Night Baseball.

I wish they could scrap this whole damn contract and put everything on CW Sports and Prime Video and be done with FOX, WB Discovery, and Versant.

And keep in mind, NASCAR is about to go through all this again with TNT Sports, depending on what happens with WB Discovery. While NASCAR's schedule has the in-car stuff on HBO Max and those TNT races on HBO Max, it's actually likely all of that will move to Discovery+.

Like I am supposed to be shocked? When you give all of the power to the corporations, the people lose their power.

NASCAR needs to rip this TV contract up, then go sign a 20 year deal with FOX. Whatever FOX doesn’t want, CW and Amazon get.
I’m okay with the Amazon side of it, the NFL arrangement along with millions having prime makes it a solid option. Heck my grandparents have Amazon Prime. But leaving network TV is a bad idea, just ask the MLS

There are still a lot of sporting events that are only on cable, especially events on Versant networks.
As a side note, the LPGA has a new multi-year contract that will have every round of every tournament shown on Versant networks Golf Channel or CNBC. I haven't read how Golf is changing its PGA coverage so it can fit in more of the women, but for the short-term, our household would appear to benefit.

NASCAR and Versant is such a bizarre marriage.

Nobody watching NASCAR will watch the LPGA, LOVB, Cait-less WNBA, Temptation Island, Christley Knows Best or MS NOW.

My bet is NBC is losing money on NASCAR and found a way out.

Eh, NASCAR is still going to be on USA on cable, as it was this past fall. If you could find it then, it's not going to have moved. Does anyone watching care who the parent company is?

We watch NASCAR and LPGA :) As to the rest, I guess we're the only household immune to network cross-promotion. It's been years (decades?) since I saw a program advertised during either motorsports or golf that I felt any urge to watch. Indeed, more often my reaction is to avoid the programming being pushed. I'm sure the networks push the shows their demographics say will appeal to race fans, so I'm probably a statistical anomaly.
