Just found this from an ESPN article.

"Chad and I made a promise to each other long ago,'' Johnson said. "As long as I was driving this car, he would be my crew chief."

They do seem to have a very strong friendship, so I don't see why Chad bailing for more money.

I just love this Knaus needs to do something else B.S. why don't ya man up and say you can't stand the guy winning? Have ya thought for just a minute about who has the most championships at 7?...and he has 5? Put on your big boy pants will ya. Because like it or not, they have to beat the 48, just like way back when, they had to beat the 43, or later on you had to beat the 3.

Just for the record, I like Jimmie's team.

As for JJ being a "robot," the OP obviously hasn't bothered to check out the 48 scanner during a race or read through JJ's twitter feed after some "controversy." Perhaps he also forgot his feud with Kurt Busch a few years back. Just because he doesn't bitch and moan about every little incident that happens doesn't mean he's a "robot."

I said this in my very first post. Johnson is very animated on the radio. Most people just see the outside. Oh he wins too much, most hate. Eh

So true. My thoughts drivers aren't the only ones that can afford the plush RVs. Dale Inman stayed with Petty a lot longer when few of the traveling luxeries were available.
I dont have a clue about the pay, but Chad should be making a million or more a year.
Whatever it is hard to walk away from something so rewarding and successful into the unknown e.g. the Labontes, Mark Martin etc....

I would be surprised to see Chad quitting anytime soon, racing is his life, and he is still young in terms of crew cheifs. I would be expecting JJ getting older when he is around 45 to be the biggest future limitation.

The problem with my speculation is just that, it is just a big guess based on my flawed opinions. We could do a thousand comments on it, and we still wouldnt know.
They could split up tommorow, or go 10 more years.
