This weeks NASCAR Fan Council survey

Apparently the 2019 rules change was based upon favorable results the ASR received. IMO not enough data was collected to make such sweeping changes. Hopefully Nascar guessed correctly.

My thoughts are that they didn't ask the right question or enough questions. Sure a lot of people liked the ASR race, but did they ask if they should use it at every track? Or did they ask why people liked the ASR race? instead of just making assumptions that everyone liked it because of the car setup?

They had a section at the end for comments. I believe there was room to write a small book if one desired.

You bring up good points as often times survey questions are skewed to get a desired response. Context is everything and what might have been a one off fun thing for an ASR may not be what people want all the time.

Yes agreed, but do they actually collect those responses? How do they categorize them, how do they associate them with the responses of the questions?i.e. are the responses linked to the questions?
My guess is no because it is complicated to do, and the questions/optional responses (the multiple choices) never really change much.

A person can read anything into this statement they want, but to me that issue was settled a long time ago, the only thing that was left was how would they would do it, and that has been published about the three different packages they will use quite awhile ago.

Hell if I know. The one person that I know of that got kicked off was because of uncalled for profanity. He was notified by email that he wasn't fan council material.
Contact their technical department and see if there's a problem with their email list. It worked when I had a problem.
 
I got my very first invite to fill in a survey. I did go overboard in my comment section. :D
 
I got one today. I told them to ask me these questions again after 1/3 of the way into the season. I need to see actual racing before I can give an opinion on the changes.
 
Of course, now they ask our thoughts on what we think of the car rules...however, I have to say I hate how they word these questions. They ask if we prefer "less side-by-side racing with more HP" or "more side-by-side racing with less HP". Seems to me like they're angling for you to choose a particular answer there...Also, having to decide between "drivers performing based on skill" versus "drivers performing based on equipment" as if this package will be the great panacea to equalize equipment, as apparently the last few years drivers have only been good according to what car they drove. :rolleyes: There are more like this, but you see what I'm getting at.

FL, thanks for citing the specifics for those of us who aren't in the fan council. Blatantly rigging the outcome of the "poll," IMO. Actually ridiculous. Rather than a fan council, this seems to be a fan PR program. I know that Nascar does sophisticated market research, but this sure isn't part of it.

How do you know Nascar does sophisticated market research? If they do they certainly do not avail themselves of the answers do they Lew.
 
looks pretty telling to me. Nascar since before 2014 have been experimenting with the car, trying various packages and guess what, another version of the car is coming soon. Maybe some of ya would be happier with vintage racing. :idunno:

I think it is very easy to romanticize the old days and you tend to remember the good and the bad melts away. I think striving for a good balance between the old and new is what is needed but it is easy to get out of balance.

IDK anything about the next car but I hope it is much better than the last 2.

Still waiting for the Chase to 'melt'. Any idea as to how long that might take? Times running short.

It took them a couple of weeks to get back to me but they straightened out my problem.
That's great about the realization that they didn't ban you for being too much of an ass. If so they would have banned me several years ago. :D

Once again, no invite for me. Like the last time I mentioned, I went to log into my account to look for the survey. This time, my login/password is no longer valid. I know that what I entered is correct as the combination has never changed. I selected the option to reset the password as instructed. It stated that I'd receive an email with instructions within 30 minutes or so. Nope, never received it. Looks like my torch has finally been snuffed. Probably just as well anyhow. Their survey's were only turning into a source of aggravation.
 
it was nothing but a gizillion questions about their recent web page changes. I told them to look at Fox's site and do the exact opposite.

That's what happened to me and it took them a couple of month's to straighten it out after I reported it to their techies.
