Thoughts On BRISTOL

It's kind of a grown-up thing for me .I don't really take pleasure in the misfortunes of others ,nor do I enjoy seeing Nascar drivers run down by 'supposed' fans . But I'm old. :D

I agree. Even my 8 yr old son knows that cheering when someone wrecks is a classless thing to do. But having been a fan of the sport for the past 15 years and a witness to fan behavior on message boards and at the track I am confident I am in the minority when it comes to civility.

The "new" Bristol in my opinion, SUCKS! The track, the racing, everything about it. The easiest way for them to tell they messed up the best track is by the empty seats. Which took just one race on the new surface to effect the second race attendance. It just looks like 95% of every other race on the schedule.
So you are saying you don't like a two groove track that allows for real racing without wrecking some one to get by them?

No what I'm saying is I don't like the new Bristol at all. Bristol hasn't been nearly exciting since they changed it. It races to much like a big track now.

Guys got moved at Bristol all the time without getting wrecked. There is a certain drama to watching a faster car get more and more impatient until the gently put the bumper to someone.

That's not true for me at all. Bristol used to have character and now it's just another track.
How does it not have character? When you walk in there it is like going into a football stadium only there is a half mile, high banked race track there instead. You can feel the stands rumble when the race starts, there is nothing like it!

Where's the DISLIKE button when you need it? ;)

I find it extremely interesting how much variation there can be in defining "good racing". I'm not saying y'all are wrong. It's your opinion and I accept that.

The fact that your opinions differ from mine does not indicate that you are knucle-dragging neanderthals...not at all! :lol2::lol2::lol2:

Thanks. It's good knowing I'm not a knucle-dragging neanderthal. I have to sleep at night.

Nothing like the sick feeling to my stomach after I left. Felt like I was in a garage with the car running.

You were. You never left the house and dreamed the whole thing.

I was surprised to hear that the fumes get so bad there.

Fumes never bothered me at Bristol. But some of the drunken troglodytes were another story.

you don't know what a homo is? Lucky you. :D

One time when I was 13 my friends mom invited me to Cincinnati for the week in the summer to stay with my friend and have some fun. When I was going to leave my mom sat me down and said "now Joe, I was to talk to you about when you are in the big city"..... I cut her off and said "Don't worry mom, I know what a prostitute looks like".

She bust out laughing. She was going to tell me not to let my friends mom drop us off some where without knowing where I was. BLah Blah BLAH.

She still likes to tell that damn story.

Your philosophy sounds mature, moral and grown-up to me.

BMS saw my first race there in 1967 Richard won that one been way to long so i really dont remember it, saw Dale win his first in in 72 again just remember a rookie won, started going to both races there in 75 didn't miss a one till 2007, only been s few time since then, last being 2010 night race.
i loved it when it was asphalt and they ran bias ply tires anyone remember tire stager and the goodyear vs hoosier days. was at the first night race that was a blast, i want to think DW won with Dale right on his ass for 2nd i could be wrong. then came the concerte (my spelling sucks) what a mess that was don't think anyone figured that out for a few years. then we got WOO and they covered it with dirt that was really fun to watch. i have seen some of the best racin and some of the worst at that track, do i like the new track, NO but i dont like nascars BS rules either. i can remember when the winning car looked like it had been in a demolition derby on more than 1 occasion. but that was before "parody" came into play now days you would be hard pressed to win with a bent up race car. guess what i am saying is nascar has changed much over they years and things jus ain't the same. i may go sundy haven't decided yet just know that it aint the BMS it once was .

The only thing constant in life is change. Accept it or waste time crying over things which you have no control.
