Who are the worst drivers you have seen in Nascar with at least 100 starts? It is something I am going to have to really think about as all the drivers in cup are good as it is just some are very good.
Exactly.I don't think the worst drivers got 100 starts.
Yeah, that's over three seasons for most of the Winston era.I don't think the worst drivers got 100 starts.
Means was a true independent. He never had the equipment nor the money to be competitive, yet he was here week after week to race.I'd put Jimmy Means on the list. Never finished better than 7th in 455 starts.
One could argue that he would be a candidate on the top 10 worst announcer list as well.Since it looks like we're disqualifying independents from this list, I'll go ahead and say Michael Waltrip. 4 wins (all on plate tracks) in 30 years and never finished in the Top 10 in points. Mikey was never on a "great" team but he was on several decent ones.
I would say Steve Kinsers short stint was as much of a Kenny Bernstein fail as it was a driver fail. He wasnt groomed or properly prepared for the pressures of a premium cup ride (at least one capable of winning).

Did Buckshot get to 100? Larry Foyt? Casey Atwood? Who ran that #96 that Sony TV sponsored ("It's the mirrors!") and two Dallas QBs owned?
Kyle actually wasn't that bad...... he managed to get the Unocal bonus money several times when they went to Rockingham......Herman "the turtle" weekly
Buckshot Jones
Casey Atwood
Rick Mast
Hut Stricklin
JD McDuffy
Danica Patrick
Stephen Wallace (busch)
Kyle Petty
Michael Waltrip

Yeah....... I think '92 was his best year..... He was 1 of the final 6 who had a chance to take the Cup.... although 4th thru 6th was a longshot..... he was still within striking range..... not too bad...... and I think he finished in the top 5 in '93 also.....Half the drivers on his list aren't bad.
Kyle Petty won several races and had a few top 5 points finishes. Worst driver? Hardly

I always liked ole Hut Stricklin too...... he was somehow related to the Allisons in some way.... at least linked to the Alabama gang...... and.... there was no way you could not pull for J.D. McDuffy..... always out there giving his best whenever he had the resources to race........Rick Mast wasn't bad either . Looks to me like he wanted 9 other drivers to go with his Danica pick .

I knew he was a son-in-law to one of them and thought it was Donnie but wasn't sure......i think hut was maqrried to one of the allison girls
He married Pam Allison, the daughter of NASCAR legend Donnie Allison after they were introduced by her cousin Davey. Stricklin was the last member of the Alabama Gang.

Yeley deserves a mention.
I think JJ Yeley drove that car for a bit too. That was Tony Raines and it was Texas Instruments DLP TV on the car. I forgot about that, but yeah it was Hall of Fame Racing and Troy Aikman was one of the owners.
I'd put Jimmy Means on the list. Never finished better than 7th in 455 starts.
I agree.... he drove for a lot of different teams.... probably the most prominent was Richard Jackson.... he done well there.... maybe this off note but.... he also drove for Junie Donalevy...... that's what I miss so much today about the racing we used to see.... Junie was the stepping board to so many racers.... I can't even count how many up and coming drivers drove for Junie..... I was never so proud as when Junie got the Heilig Meyers Sponsorship!!!!!!!!!! That was moving into the Big Time for him!!! I still see a guy around town wearing one of those jackets......Rick Mast, in my opinion, is the best Cup regular to have never won a race. He came really close several times in average equipment.
