I am not really a fan of the toyota drivers but I think a message has been sent in the garage. to the trained eye I don't recall seeing a car pull out to the sort of lead denny had at the end of that race. factor in the 11 car leading most of the thing. granted brad didn't do a great job of setting himself up at the end but I thought for sure the 11 was dead in the water on the last lap, instead he just kept pulling away. its really hard to get any measurable advantage with plate cars now days. whatever motor that 11 car had, If I was the other teams I would be worried. I am wondering if they were running a set on kill run it till it blows motor in the 11 car. maybe its a different engine than they would run in the 500 car, I hope thats the case.

Damn straight. Hell yes. I don't believe that TRD has any interest in blowing any more motors. I don't think anybody is worried, however. This plate stuff is insane, but my Toyota drivers have the tools. Time to go get it.

Yep, that 11 had a whole lot more than anyone else. He simply drove from 8th to 3rd without using the side draft, then just drove to the apron and passed everyone and drove away. Very strange indeed.

Didn't see much teamwork when he ran around Kyle (even tho its a nothing race)....wonder if that will come to bite him in the butt

No man its the package overall.

Both Logano and Brad did the same thing.

You sir are amazing.

You win the sarcasm king award. :D

I would love to see Toyota pick up their first Daytona 500 win next Sunday. I just hope those fast TRD engines hold up the whole 500 miles.

if you didn't see the serious muscle the 11 car had, you don't have a trained eye and know what to look for at a plate race. yes there are alot of factors in how the cars pass and get passed. I don't just watch these races I try and study how and why certain cars do certain things in the draft. getting any advantage at these tracks is very very hard to do, heck david ragen won in a front row car last year. The only factor I could say and it might be a valid one is the fords look weak. it is possible that a weak ford car behind a stronger toyota, made the difference look even more stark.

The boys are lookin good Rev

And so I've been told.

Did he win tonight as well?

@DUN24 was right. I was the main jinx. Haven't watched it for the past 3 weeks and I've heard he's done superb since.

Absolutely superb. Stay away. :D:D:D

I don't feel Denny had a HP advantage. I don't think anyone had a HP advantage. I saw a lot of passing. One guy out front was a sitting duck. IMO, the reason Denny got away in the final laps was because Brad was all over the track, blocking everyone, allowing Denny to drive off. I believe any of the 9 cars at the end of the race had an equal advantage. Denny was where he needed to be and Brad blocked everyone behind him.
I expect the 500 to be a wrecking yard when it's all over.

Maybe, but I'm thinking we may enjoy watching it if todays race is indicitave of the 500

I agree. I enjoyed today's race. I do not normally like plate races but I did enjoy the racing with the new aero package. If plate races are this much better, I can't wait for the 1.5's and I think 2 mile Fontana will be excellent. :)

Let me save.... :)

Denny drove off before Brad ever blocked. I watched Newman try the inside pass and stall, then the same happened to Kyle. Denny cut down and blew right by the 18, and had a 6 car length lead. Denny was out front by himself, but nobody closed for almost a lap, and then Brad started the blocking when Kyle broke he and Joey apart while Denny was 7 or 8 ahead.

Power, lower spoiler, who knows, but the 11 could do what no other car could. Even earlier when he was leading segments he was able to get on it and hold off Jr's runs on him.

This.

Also important to note that our components were as strong as Henrick BUT our procedures were better so my TRD guys didn't blow up like they did in qualifying. I am grateful. Maybe we had better components but the same procedures. Hmmm. Very confusing. :sarcasm:

Please enlighten us ignorant redneck race fans on how to achieve such excellence Master since all we can see with our untrained eyes are BL's.

Or how you can study what certain cars are going to do what in certain parts of the draft. Considering, well, you know, no 2 drivers are the same, and each driver is going to react differently to the draft.

I didn't see any body have an advantage last night. I did see any car that got a run could pass at any time unless of course he got side drafted, blocked, or wrecked. The latter happened more times than not. Blocking everywhere creates wrecks, but its what they have to do given the new package. You block and that run will push you forward.

Great driving and a bit of luck put Denny upfront at the end.
Good race to watch, I think the 500 will be less exciting. These drivers dont like to wreck. They will be less likely to take chances in a 500 miler.

Until the end.

I have hope for the duels and 500. Guys now know the closing rate, which was the cause of most of the wrecks. The side draft wasn't upsetting cars, and guys still had some control when things went wrong. I say guys because.....;)

Bonehead award goes to Ricky. He seemed to be thinking it was the last lap.

I duno... I think it was just good timing and BK made a bad move going down in front of Kyle.. There was more than once that other were able to do the same thing Denny did.. Jamie Mac and Joey both pulled away from the field like that at one point... Denny just did it at the right time... not taking away from the fact that Denny pulled it off but I don't think his engine was that amazing.. just his timing and the fact that Brad didn't stay where he should have... Brad stays in front of Joey.. Brad wins the race... or at least makes it a close finish.

Oh mighty one, I bow down to thee. I'm not worthy of my 15 years watching racing including plate races. These untrained eyes are stained with false knowledge! How ever shall I live?! The horror!!

Had the #2 stayed with the #22, the race may have had a different outcome but #2 seemed more concerned with #18.

While the #11 was stout, it isn't unusual to see a single car pull 8 or 10 car legnths out front only to be freight trained. The freight rain never got going on those last couple of laps.

That wasn't an option once the 18 side drafted the 22 and seperated them.

As a dedicated Toyota/TRD fan I get cowboy's point. Hell of a move not possible with a shortage of horsepower. Reminded me of stuff Junior used to do at DEI.

While there was some of that going on, the #18 didn't side draft the #2 down in front of him. Keselowski made that decision.
