They never got a shot at it tonight, but as an aside I don't think a racing vortex has the power and force to effectively block a lightning strike.
All of those lightning strikes look like direct downward vertical shots. I think they would just cut through a racing vortex like a knife, even the best ones regardless of how symmetrically perfect.

I was getting ready to do some lab studies and simulations on the cyclonic forces in play..
But on second thought I just checked with the worlds leading expert or victim.

Denny Hamlin said they actually can create a lethal lightning strike, and he has got the scars to prove it. He also said it only takes one car or truck 1/3 of a lap to make it happen. He went on to say a 36 truck continuous Haul the Wall would trigger an event worthy of a Steven Spielberg movie.
 
It rained its ass off here about 40 miles south. Stopped about 30 mins ago. Clear and drying up now, but temp dropped about 15 degs

Comparable to the Raiders scene when they opened the Ark and it burnt and melted off their faces. Similar to the way it burnt off and melted Hamlins dreams of making the chase last fall.

Note: That's my only possibile comparison I could make, I have not scene the 1941 movie.

Steve's worst movie. Incredibly unfunny comedy wasting a great cast and two hours of my life. Almost did to Steve's career what the ark did to the Nazis.
 
There's another cell just east of Charlotte that may just miss. Or may not.

Well this is gonna be interesting, we've seen how some of the truck races have gone this year in the dry....
 
throw the green. Why have the tires if you’re gonna use them to dry the track?
 
I wish they approached this with the same rules as road course. Especially since you have stage breaks.

But first time. Truck Series. NASCAR gets the pass.
 
they should have ran the rain tires to the stage brake to save time.
