considering his past, i'm sure he is well aware of the policy.

no. that honor goes to billy moyer!:D
Or Larry Moore. Buck Simmons? The argument will never end. :D

But yea, He is full of himself for sure. And I think that even many of the Bloomquist haters would be pulling for him that race. (unless another late model driver is entered). One thing for sure those trucks aren't late models.

I sure am looking forward to this race ,mainly because it will be something outside the norm and a completely new experience . I sure hope it lives up to everyones lofty expectations but I don't see how it possibly can . Those trucks are not close to being dirt modifieds . They will be more like dump trucks on a skating rink. It will be a real hoot to watch , but I for one am not expecting it to be pretty.

I think it will be a huge mess, but slow enough to keep most trucks in it until the end. After 20 or 30 laps, I expect to see trenches on the track that even the French would be proud of.

I don't foresee trenches, but I do foresee a dry, slick, shiny, rubbered down track that might as well be asphalt.

I sure as heck have no idea . I truth ,I'm more of a rear window guy . I could ask Andy.

Ok. Let me know when you're done so we can talk. ;)

This is good old vintage stuff. Nascar runs a race and an unexpected big dog is going to enter the show. This is the good kind of uncanned, unplanned excitement that is needed. So many good positives like when you were a kid going to see a big local 200 lapper and some unexpected bad ass shows up to mix it up with the regulars.

Isn't this more like one of those modified drivers getting into an IROC car? I mean , the truck couldn't be further away from their normal ride . Do you really think they would have an advantage ? Or would the Nationwide drivers be that bad.

Since, in the past, they've run the entire World 100 (heats and all) with 130+ cars all on Saturday, I think the track will just just rubber down.

I thought late models weighed around 1,500 lbs? Is that about right?

You don't think the 3,400 lb trucks will make a difference on how the track holds up?
I could be wrong. But given the history of the track, and its tendency to just slick up and rubber down, I'm sticking with it. We'll certainly find out.

do they plan to split the race and work the track?

Specific race course ringers usually dont work out so good in nascar but we'll see. He's not used to the heavier beating and banging of the good ol boys in the trucks either.

Have you seen any late model races?

One thing you gotta know about him is that he doesn't lack any confidence lol

Yep, lots of'em. It takes more than confidence and or nads to step up a few tiers to the trucks.

but the truck series drivers that have never raced on dirt have a bigger learning curve than a dirt driver changing rides. just my opinion.

That was my question . Assuming they won't be using treaded tires and assuming they won't be slinging the trucks sideways in the corners , is it not just a regular race on a greasy track ? Does everyone think that the regular Nationwide drivers will not be able to handle a greasy track?

I think Scott will be more disadvantaged and there will NASCAR veterans with Dirt experience to compete against too. But if he gets the truck early enough and preps it his way, I will be very interested.

The thing I like is the ability attract someone unexpected and very credible to give it shot. Back in the day some regional big shots would took a stab at Martinsville, or even Daytona. I remember Butch Lindley taking a couple shots at Martinsville against the Cup guys. He never won but he led a lot, was very strong for his equipment. This just has that same feel that I like.

Another way of saying it..running trucks at Eldora isn't grassroots magic imo, but attracting a Scott Bloomquist to run against them is grassroots goodness according to my dogs.

The bottom line is the spouse and I will be sitting there in the stands a few feet from the action and a couple hundred yards from the rv enjoying the hell out of ourselves. Of course DP and his family, sitting nearby, will be too worried about slick dirt- soft dirt- wet dirt- dry dirt- dirt track ringers and so on to enjoy themselves. NOT
To us brave souls going into the wilds of nascar on dirt.

I envy your sense of adventure .You're like pioneers . Good on ya. May the racing gods favor you with a great race.

I think them dogs are all talk. When was the last time they actually went to a race?

Typical reactions on here to pan something before it even takes place. Why is this race even being compared to anything? It hasn't even happened yet. It is what it is and that ain't Friday night racing at the local track. It's the first time NASCAR has raced on dirt in many, many years let alone the first time ever for the trucks. The first time only happens once and I'll be grinning ear to ear being there to see it. :D

Agreed , and I would love to be in your shoes and see that race . Another thing that we tend to do here though is overhype something new and then blow it off when it doesn't live up to the unrealistic hype . I'm thinking of Danica and the Gen 6 car as examples . I hate to see some of the modified fans hoping that this will look like one of those wild and wooly sideways short track slugfests. It will be a great race but it will be a great Nationwide Truck Race.IMO:D I think we can be all in without overselling it .

I don't think that anyone is overselling it by any means. I'm gong there without any expectations on the race. I've never seen the Trucks race on dirt before but I have been to many a races and I know one thing, I'll have a great time regardless of the racing. I'll be there for 6 nights. The racing will only be a small part of the week for me but the camping memories will last a life time.

Yeah the hype is already ridiculous. It will get worse as the date nears. When 70% of the laps end up being run under caution people may change their tune. I hope I'm wrong about the cautions, though because it would be cool if they could manage to put on a decent show.
