Trucks at Eldora: Bloomquist

Typical reactions on here to pan something before it even takes place. Why is this race even being compared to anything? It hasn't even happened yet. It is what it is and that ain't Friday night racing at the local track. It's the first time NASCAR has raced on dirt in many, many years let alone the first time ever for the trucks. The first time only happens once and I'll be grinning ear to ear being there to see it. :D

Seriously, who panned the Eldora race?

Yep, what he said. :DMe, :D The spouse.

I don't think that anyone is overselling it by any means. I'm gong there without any expectations on the race. I've never seen the Trucks race on dirt before but I have been to many a races and I know one thing, I'll have a great time regardless of the racing. I'll be there for 6 nights. The racing will only be a small part of the week for me but the camping memories will last a life time.
Yep, again what he said.

Just curious, did anyone have their Eldora tickets sent to them yet? I've been out of town for a month or so, so i have not been able to see any of my mail. If they didnt mail them yet, any idea on when they will start mailing them?

I got mine a few weeks ago. They mailed them out sometime in late February.

Thanks for the quick reply! I think all should be well with my PO Box anyway. Quit having stuff delivered to my house address in Ohio. Everyday half of what was in the mailbox was my neighbors mail, terrible service. Can't imagine the post office could screw up too much with a PO Box...

This is good old vintage stuff. Nascar runs a race and an unexpected big dog is going to enter the show. This is the good kind of uncanned, unplanned excitement that is needed. So many good positives like when you were a kid going to see a big local 200 lapper and some unexpected bad ass shows up to mix it up with the regulars.
I'm hoping for either one of the Swindells..or both.:)

Got mine Feb. 28th.

Yeah baby! Feb as well.

DP the wife says instead of that long route before or after Eldora its Sonoma, take a week to drive out without the RV, spend a week there then take a week to get back with a stop in Phonix to see her sister. Figure that would be too long a haul for the RV. Rest up a bit then El- hell yeah-Dora.

Hats off to ya, you are dedicated. You do know where Sonoma, Phoenix, and Eldora are, right? I just want to make sure. I mean with you getting old and all. Sometimes we forget things, like geography. o_O

Seriously, who panned the Eldora race?

Everybody and their mother.

As soon as it was announced, Jim Utter was on Twitter claiming it's unsafe of NASCAR to race there because Eldora doesn't have SAFER barriers and it's "too far" from any major hospital.

Maybe it should have been stated, 'Jim Utter for one.' I really haven't seen anyone against it except for a few on here. Besides, what the heck does it matter? They are racing there regardless of what any reporter is saying. Maybe Jim should take the week off?

Well, I guess you're right. Here, Twitter and with my family are the only places I discuss NASCAR. I guess I should say that "a lot of people here + Jim Utter" are opposed to racing at Eldora. But, in my world, that's like 90% of NASCAR opinions.

Don't give this place that much credit. A quick trip to your local NASCAR race will tell you that this place isn't the popular opinion.

How could anyone not want to see the trucks at Eldora!? I personally don't see no SAFER barriers being an issue at Eldora, and it's 15 minutes, at most, to Mercer Hospital in Coldwater.

Thats why they invented mapquest, just for me. Driving time only, its 37 hours each way and we pass through Phoenix anyway. Get on I-10 here and get off I-10 in Los Angeles and will plan to hit LA about 9 pm to miss the traffic. Wifes never been on the pacific coast Highway. Bet my GPS will go "HUH??" when I put the sonoma address in. Things may change but thats what she wants to try for. :D

Just go back 15 posts in this very thread. Everybody (meaning, some people) thinks the trucks will tear up the dirt and it will be a caution filled mess.

Just for the record, I think it's a good idea. I thought it was a good idea when it was just a rumor. Part of me can't believe that Brian France-era NASCAR is trying it. But, it seems like people are lining up to say why it's a bad idea. Including that loudmouth bozo who writes for the Charlotte Observer Jim Utter.

A couple board members without a seat at the event and Jim Utter? Okay, there are detractors in everything NASCAR related. Good idea/bad idea, what the heck does it matter? It's on the schedule and I've got a ticket. I can guarandamntee you that I will be having one helluva time along with 30,000+ other fans. Screw Jim Utter.

Been to Eldora before?

#NASCAR Truck Series director Chad LIttle says format for Eldora should be announced "shortly'' after Martinsville
I think thats when they are going to announce that you and I have reserved seats up with the spotters. ;) Come to think of it they dont have spotters at dirt tracks, do they even have a spotters stand??

They are, if they haven't already, adding those.

I would be interested to know how they are modifying the trucks to run dirt, don't think coil bind and aero front ends are going to work. o_O

yeah I have seen that. Haven't been able to find anything about the setup they are running, tires etc. That isn't even close to a good time for a modified, not knocking the truck, just sayin. With the size of the field they are running, they will fill up a track that small. I'm sure they have it worked out, but some info would be interesting reading. heat race elimination? how many laps for the feature..or just throw 40 or so of them out there and make it bumper trucks. I'll keep looking and if I find something I will post it up.

nothing.. I can't find on much of anything on the web except there is going to be a race..with trucks ha. I'll keep diggin.

Dug this up, didn't get the caption to come along. But it said Goodyear setup tires on the left, and Goodyear Eagle dirt racing tires. No compound/Stagger info.

Yea, I'm coming up empty too. Seems they haven't said much at all except "we're going to Eldora!"
