TY dillon to drive no13 full time in 2017

Austin may whine like a bitch, but the man can drive his ass off. Ty is just as, if not more aggressive and when they are both in the track, it's going to be competitive and fun to watch them both.

Can't wait honestly.

A lot of people will argue the case that Austin out drove everyone else at RCR but I'm sure good ol "poppop" dumped most of the resources into AD. Ty Dillon to me seems even more spoiled than Austin is. I can't stand the Dillon brothers and I would love to see them take each other out on a weekly basis.

'Notable' is obviously an indefinite term. I'm choosing to believe the intent of the question is who won the championship in.the lower series and went on to success or real contention in the Cup series. Bowyer had some strong seasons in which he was a consistent Chase presence or contender. We'll see where his career goes from here with SHR. Truex has been up and down and is currently on the upswing.

I also forgot Greg Biffle, who had a notable Cup career in my book as well.
Yes, that was the intent of the question.

Harvick and Edwards.

I don't know, I would exclude the champions from 2006-2010 from this conversation. Every champion during that time period was a Cup driver who was moonlighting in the lower series.

There was a solid run of Busch Series champions in the 90s who went on to do nothing in Cup. Steve Grissom, David Green, and Randy LaJoie are probably best known now as answers to trivia questions.

Harvick won the 2001 Busch championship. I mean he was a Cup driver at that point, but he wasn't even supposed to be.

allenbada let us know this was in the works and that they had been trying to make it happen for a couple years before. The interesting thing is what kept it from happening sooner.

Yep his zero wins in three years really show what a wheelman he is.

You would think that Joey Logano and Kyle Larson would teach people not to write off young talent after a rocky start......

Please don't mention Dillon as being on the same level as Logano or Larson.

Logano. 26 years old. 17 Wins, 136 Top Tens
Larson. 24 years old. 1 Win, 42 Top Tens
Dillon. 26 years old. 0 Wins, 22 Top Tens.

The only contribution Austin Dillon has made to NASCAR is making RCR a second tier team by Kevin Harvick leaving.

Quibble - their age isn't as relevant as the number of years of Cup experience.

RCR has been mediocre tbh.

They started dumping all the resources to Austin, it's quite obvious. Just because he has not win does not mean he can't drive.

Dillon out performed Newman at RCR last year. The kid is underrated.

Don't think the top resources went to that 3 car? Not only poppy's grandson in it but the 3 on the side means big $ if it runs well.

And the 13 team decision wasn't about talent as much as resources/tech support. That car now became #1B in the RCR pecking order.

That's more the answer to "Who was the last notable Cup driver to go on to be Xfinity champ?"

Bad Brad got beat in Xfinity series by cup drivers while driving for Junior then went back and won the championship after signing with Penski

Carl went from Truck to cup then went back to Xfinity with Roush to win his championship. Same story with Hamlin I think.

Biffle is the only current driver to win Championships in Truck and Xfinity before being a cup driver. Dillon?

Kenseth went from 2nd place in Xfinity then to champion in cup.
