I didn't actually know that USAC does the blend rule.
Macedo was the class of the field in both divisions, but it kinda puts a damper on things when he trashes a lapped car and the best reason he can come up for it is that he felt his pace slowing and couldn't figure out another way. He was fast but lucky that he caused cautions in both races and won.
