Was the 2017 NASCAR season a good season?

I did, brought some friends down to Kentucky. They don't watch races on TV but enjoyed seeing the speed and all that in person. They liked being there in person but it didn't change either of their views on racing, and they didn't start watching it or following it.

Thanks for posting and letting me know.

I didn't read all of this thread but here is my 2 cents.

The TV coverage was 4 out of 10. Pretty terrible and I don't know if Fox or NBC was worse. NBC had slightly better camera angles but their crew in the booth was terrible. They had much better pre and post race coverage though. Fox had terrible on track coverage but their in booth crew was head and shoulders above NBC.

The new stage format gets a 4 out of 10 also. I'm not a fan. I know some people like it. I don't. I like the playoff idea and I know many hate that so what can you do? Win some lose some I guess.

The on track racing was a 6 of 10. That's probably generous but at least we are seeing more passing these days. Dover has been resurrected from the dead and Phoenix had another great year. The 1.5 mile cookie cutters were still snoozefests for the most part and the stage racing pretty much ruined road course racing. At least IMSA had a good year!

Monster spnosorship gets a 6 of 10 only because I don't think I noticed much of a difference from last year other than the girls in tight clothes. So 5 being neutral, I gave them a 6 because I'm a guy and like pretty girls.

Looking forward to Daytona but more for the 24 hours rather than the 500.

Just shorten the races to 250-300 miles, it's senseless to watch them follow the leader for 300 miles then really race the last 100. The atention span of younger fans is too short these days, shorter races would be more exciting.
That's why we have 3 short races now, 2 stages and the final.

I thought it was a good season, compared to 2015 and 2016, the stage racing helped besides the end of stage cautions which is ridiculous but the racing was for the most part better

Cool to see Truex win a title but the gap between Toyota and Ford/Chevy was a massive let down, hopefully it is fixed in 2018
I am sure they all knew Toyota was going for a new car model Ford and chevy just got caught with their pants down. Chevy because of arrogance and Ford because they are the poor cousin.

Like I posted earlier, Nascar did a survey on race lengths. 1/3 said shorten them 1/3 said leave them alone and 1/3 said make them longer. Looks like they will stay the same length.

They already shortened most of them. The people who think they are still to long should switch to watching horse racing.

It will be interesting to see what happens next year when Nascar adds more stages therefore giving the fans more of what they have been asking for. More restarts equals more action for a lap or 2..........:D

More B.S. France and Dewar both said publicly during the press conference at homestead that they aren't changing the stages in 2018. It's posted in "the more you know" thread

If FOX and NBC tell Dumb and Dumber to add stages to races it will be done so I wouldn't count my chickens just yet. If the thread you referenced was the one where someone posted a half hour video Dumb and Dumber I didn't watch it for obvious reasons.

Good because the length of races are not a big problem at all unless you're located in the Fort Worth, Texas area.

Stages are OK. I would prefer not having them, but if they keep them as they are (maybe even get rid of a stage in the Truck Series IMO), I'll accept it.

Great season. That's all.
