Watkins Glen in the rain

Sounds like someone was listening to Journey up in Race Control.

"Don't stop, believin'"

Well, it's better than listening to Andy "We're all doomed" Marquis.

Race promoters and series can't do anything right when it comes to weather. If they try everything they can to get the race in, people whine. If they quit early and don't try, people whine.

Steve O'Donnell just said this one's close to done, another cell that I mentioned earlier is making a beeline for the track.

I've sat through enough rain delays this year at Old Dominion to know exactly how those fans must feel.

it's falling apart and will barely catch the track. If they can get the heavy stuff off the track, the cell coming should be easy to get wiped off the track, and it looks all open after that.

Problem is, Steve O'Donnell (NASCAR Senior VP) has already tweeted that is there's any more rain, light or heavy, they're calling it. They're pushing a very small window as it is.

This is too funny. 20 min after calling the race, it was clear and sunny for miles around the track.

Sitting here feeling really happy people way back in the day weren't calling Richard Petty by the short version for 'Richard'. 'King Dick' doesn't have the same ring to it.

If you happened to catch the IRL race, it just displayed how asinine a race in the wet can be. And that is from a series that doesn't normally shy away from a wet surface.

I'm no advocate for a Cup race in the rain, but the Indycar race was on an oval on slicks and Indycar officials admittedly made a bad call to restart the race. I don't think anyone here supports a Cup race in the rain on anything other than a roadcourse.

Only on racing-forums.com would you get an 11 page thread about a race that didn't happen. :D

Due to a rain delay, this weeks Forum Game is invalidated. Scoring will start again next week.

Well, here we go. Still looks wet out there. I hope it doesn't turn into a 1/2 race crap shoot.
