WEC 2025

I got to see the last four hours, so I missed all the yellow flag action! I've missed most of this year's WEC because I could not get it, but today Motor Trend ran the entire race. It was great getting to see these cars run again.

Poor Toyota is taking it in the butt with the BOP. Caddy took too big of a bop hit this time and they were disappointing. Alpine ran about as well as their F1 team. which is not saying much. Aston looked really strong and thankfully Peugeot finally got a decent result. BMW seemed to be nowhere all day.

The GT cars were as fast or faster in some part of the track as the hyper cars, so working traffic looked really difficult. There was always something going on, which seems to be this series trademark. I really enjoyed it.

Hopefully Motor Trend will carry the rest of the season.

Cadillac were pretty quick all weekend and were hovering around the podium spots a lot yesterday. Not sure what happened but it seemed like they flubbed the strategy late in the race and that took them down the order.

Alpine and Toyota both seemed to just be spinning all the time. Lots of unforced errors. BMW had some sort of hybrid failure behind the safety car in the first hour and then just never seemed to have the speed with the other car.

Might try to go back and rewatch, should be pretty short without all the stoppages. I was pleasantly surprised MT televised the whole thing, although that and Le Mans were the only races scheduled to have any portions on linear TV from what I remember reading at the beginning of the season.

ACO racing finally returns to Silverstone this weekend, and it sounds like the advance ticket sales for the ELMS event are really building momentum for the track to rejoin the WEC calendar as the 9th race in 2027.

The most recent reporting (AMuS among others) seems to indicate Porsche’s WEC program is at greater risk than their IMSA program. I guess we’ll find out one way or another soon enough.

No reason not to add Silverstone to the WEC calendar in 2027 now. Do that, award the RAC Tourist Trophy, and you’ve got the second-biggest race on the schedule. No more excuses.

Damn, excluding I500 and (maybe) F1, there isn't a series on the planet that wouldn't be ecstatic with 110K weekend attendance. Hell, there are plenty of stick-and-ball that would be delighted with that number.

I don't know how WEC wants to build a fan base in America. If I can't catch a stream, I've got to wait for the highlight package.

Here's the 2017 race that was kind of bonkers:

It’s looking like Peugeot have as good a chance as ever at getting that first win with the 9X8 this weekend.

Maybe not. The Valkyrie went quickest in final practice. This one feels pretty wide open, no clue who gets pole late tonight.
I haven't seen P3, but Peugeot headed 1 and 2. It would be a scream of the Aston Martin won.

If anyone has a stream for the race I would love to have it.

Somehow Cadillac lock out the front row, with a Valkyrie and Peugeot each on the second row. What the hell, sure. It seems as wide open a race as we’ve had yet.

10 PM - 4 AM ET run time for this one tonight so it may be best to wait for the replay to upload.

Just got done watching it tonight. Pretty dang good race. The field was pretty evenly balanced and a lot of different makes took their turn at the front. Since pace was pretty similar throughout, it was largely about executing well, strategy, and some safety car luck. Alpine were able to leap to the lead in the final pit cycle by taking left-side tires only and managed the gap from there. Massive, massive victory for that squad.
