Just answer the question
We don’t have to agree.

Sound familiar doesn’t it? It’s what you always say when people ask you to answer a question. But unlike you, I’ll be nice.

I’m not sure, I can’t say one way or another. If they can look and see it happened, then by all means DQ him also.

You’re avoiding the question.

I’ll edit:
There’s radio communication that supports GM race manipulation. Do you think this is ok? If they let Byron remain, would you agree that this is bullschit?

No I’m not? I literally said

“I’m not sure, I can’t say one way or another. If they can look and see it happened, then by all means DQ him also.”

you just don’t like the answer to the question. I can’t say yes or no because I’ve not listened to the radio chatter

And that evened out when Chase lost one he should’ve won. Harvick still a few short, but he won in 2014 when was the 5th best driver, and Jeff Gordon got boned out of another one. Sadly it happens. I much rather have a full season as well by the way.

It's tricky because unlike Harvick in 2020, and Larson this season, Elliott DID make the final 4 and had his shot. The speed they had all year fell off of a cliff. If they found it in the playoffs and won, it would have been his second deserved titled.

But he still was able to get there. Larson and Harvick were screwed out of even getting a "shot" in ways Elliott wasn't, which I think makes both tougher to swallow because the speed was still there.

I don't think anyone expected the 9 to be a threat. And he wouldn't have won it under the old playoff format either.

And even though he didn't have the best season, I think Elliott deserved 2020 in a way Logano, Blaney and Johnson didnt. I think he deserves 2020 the same way Harvick deserved 2014.

According to all the paid analytic data out there, and I paid for that ****, Elliott was the fastest car that year and from what I remember and it was extremely apparent. He and the race team just tripped over themselves in the regular season, Harvick didn't.

But in the playoffs, Elliott was dominant, had the best speed and results, and would have won it under the old format too.

He was more deserving, all things considered, in 2020 and was the rightful champion that year than he was in 2022. Harvick was really close on speed, superior on execution but didn't even get a chance due to the way his luck fell with the format.

Larson's loss is just brutal because unlike Harvick and Elliott in 2020 Larson was ranked first both in speed, and points over the course of the season so it's just *feels* like a greater fall from grace than anyone outside of Harvick these last 15 years.

Hope you understand. It just sucks.

I mean yeah, Elliott had his shot and didn’t take advantage. It sucks for Larson and sucked for Harvick, and I always been in favor of getting rid of this format.

Bowman never had a legitimate shot at winning. Byron does. That’s the difference.
At the start of the day, Byron was 25 points out, hardly a 'legitmate shot' to advance.

That has nothing to do with whether the assisting #1, #3, and #23 are going to be penalized. My hoping they get smacked doesn’t mean they will, and I don’t have to justify it.

What the hell makes you say that?
He said they never even looked into the manipulation. Just Bell riding the wall. He said they’d review the rest if that later this week.

Once they look at the rest, they may not have a choice.

Every time Sawyer opens his mouth, he digs the sport into a deeper Hole.

Also, as a Carl Edwards fan at heart who never got to truly, and I mean TRULY enjoy "my driver winning a championship", these things are just tough to swallow

2008 and 2011 were miserable.

Thanks for including me in this when I asked also. Lol

Larson deserves to be there, and the luck has costed him, and I'd be happy. But within the context of the actual format, he deserves to be eliminated and had his shot today.

As much is id love it, it would be just as disastrous and screwed up.

So from what I see, they were a lot of shady things on the radio, so yeah Byron should be out, but so should Bell.

So we agree to put in Larson @BobbyFord

As much as I love that, it's just so hard to really justify.

How much further back does Byron fall without the blocking? Does he lose 7 more spots?

If that manipulation prevented him from dropping 7 spots, then I agree. But can we really prove that?

This just goes back to what we discussed before. It's a judgment call and there's no "right" decision because this ridiculous format has given way to bad faith and gray decisions that lead to judgement calls by NASCAR.

It's just screwed up. Let's up this leads to a change in format.

Didnt he just need to lose one spot? If Dillon or Ross actually pass him, he loses that spot. It’s why Bell gaining one spot changed it. I’m not sure where the 7 spots come in at.

Larson is the best talent out there. Period.
I would agree if they let him in.
Would you agree that NASCAR management sucks if they don’t?

If there was no manufacturer gimmickry, Larson was still going to be out. If NASCAR's decisions regarding Bell and Byron don't put Larson in, he wasn't going to be in anyway.

Management may suck but Larson's presence or absence from the playoffs isn't an indicator.

Then who would be in? Do we just do 3?

I’m a Larson fan because he’s an obvious talent. I was asked a specific question that I honestly answered.

Dillon or Chastain would have passed Byron. He would have lost enough positions that Bell would have been in without needing to pass Wallace.
But I’m not sure if we can go off of that and rule it that way. I see your point, and I understand it. One doesn’t happen without the other. But they both still happened and I feel that’s how you have to rule it

I’d love to see Larson in instead of Byron bit after tonight’s crap I’d rather see anyone who isn’t in a Hendricks car in period. The melon man rule needs some serious refinement. But fine gig Bell for it. But the manufacturer collusion and race manipulation is on a whole other level that entirely undermines any pretense of integrity for the sport. Clean that up before you worry about wall scrapes or just schedule against WWE on Fridays nights.

We are arguing which schitty manufactured format we prefer. We must be nuts.
I respectfully disagree. I think the majority at RF don’t like the playoffs and would prefer total points. The division is between those who view the rules in terms of what they want them to be vs. those who see they're stuck with the rules as they are whether they like them or not.
