What did you think of the Martinsville call?

What should NASCAR have done at the end of Martinsville?

To say that Byron, or anyone else, shouldn’t be penalized because their radios were silent and therefore they didn’t know what was happening is embarrassing, IMO. The damn cars are packing very effective rear facing cameras. The 2 wide rolling blockade was on his screen … right in front of his boyish face.
I don't think a penalty for that would stand up under appeal. Again, there's no direct evidence Byron did anything wrong.
He attended the meeting.
Was there indeed such a meeting? Banning that sort of activity would be an excellent starting point.

I've found no proof of a meeting. How are you going to enforce banning meetings, like zoom calls for instance?
No clue, but I haven't seen any other manufacturer sanctions yet that are both appropriate and enforceable. Smacking all teams for one or two teams' actions doesn't seem fair to me. Maybe the next round of team contracts with manu's will include escape clauses if the manu leaves dirt on them. Does NASCAR really want to encourage mass defections from a manu?

Probably be a good idea to have a racing format that isn't so easy to cheat with first ya think? See: IMSA, High Limit, F-1, WEC, Indycar, WoO etc. Quit trying to make it like stick and ball, it doesn't work.

I agree but we're back to 'what would be great' vs. 'what won't happen in the real world'.

I have not heard a word from either manufacturer to admonish the teams and drivers for what they did at Martinsville. That speaks volumes to me.

Want to stop manufacturers involving themselves in the outcome of races? Draconian penalties will take care of that. How about a post race DQ for all cars involved, loss of 500 owner and driver points and $500,000.00 fines for both. And toss the crew chiefs and spotters for 5 events carried over to the next season if necessary.

Give the corporate suits something to think about.
I’d like to give this 100 more likes. 👍🏼

The simple question is if it wasnt a manufacture team collusion then why would Chastain and Dillon do it? Why would people and crews that aren’t even on Byron or Bells teams screw up their own races to just help out a couple guys?

It’s an amazing act of charity. Maybe some kinda mercy rule? Those guys look sad let’s help them out. No one told us to. We just decided spontaneously.

Some of the rationalizations and excuses here are worthy of a mafia don. “ I never have the order to kill nobody! I just said someone should pet a horses head and wish the guy a good night! Totally innocent! “
