He was supposed to see what was happening behind him, pull off into the pits and wave at millions of dollars driving by.
No but he also can't be surprised if he gets punished for being the beneficiary of it. You benefited for cheating. Like I said it no different than winning with a cheated up car. Just because you didn't know doesn't make it ok

Prove that he knew cheating was going on.

That's insulting his intelligence pretty bad.

He was slipping, sliding and slow as crap. Had cars 2 wide behind him not making any attempt to pass. Please William is way smarter than that.

Bell clearly broke the rules with his, unnecessary, wall ride. Byron did not break any rules.
Team play happens all the time and as far as the "Giving 100%", the cars on the restrictor tracks follow their teammates for most of the race without attempting to pass.

In this instance would you have thrown the black flag on the 1, 3, 20, 23 & 24 and then impose fines and such after the race?

For what it's worth I would have been completely fine with the 1 and 3 lining up behind the 24 and forcing the 6 to drive around the outside of all 3. The 2 wide blocking was too far.

I'd be ok with throwing it for the 1 and 3, that would have solved the blocking problem.

I would have given the 23 the benefit of doubt but after tearing the car down and finding nothing wrong I would have dropped the hammer so hard on them. Talking like suspending the team from competition next week.

The 20 you have to penalize because clearly he rode the wall and that's black and white. Not sure what the penalty for that is but to me it should just be a DQ.

I guess the 24 shakes out where he is after the 1 and 3 are black flagged

Yip, yap, it doesn't matter what you think, it is what you can prove.

Ah, I see. "I think the guys behind me are blocking for me so I'll do a voluntary pass down pit road. If they're still doing it when I come back out, I'll do a stop-and-go. I won't have to write a check; we left an undated one with Daytona at the start of the season."

Yeah, that will give him plausible denial on the record, I guess. If they keep blocking, is his request good enough to get him off the hook with you?
To me it doesn't really matter once it's apparent they're blocking you black flag them. In this case nascar screwed the pooch, so the only way to make it fair is to penalize the 24 since he was the beneficiary.

I think Byron should have thrown a handful of nails out the window. That will teach them to not be blocking for him.

Hey, I got an idea. Instead of this idiotic win and you are in points system, why don't they have a points system that has everybody racing for position without a jackpot every race? Nobody from other teams would be thinking about blocking for other teams or laying down so somebody from another team can pass them.

You still had the games back then too. Just not as bad. Guys would give guys spots or push them.

How many times did a teammate pull over to let a guy lead a lap for the bonus points?

How many times did teams field extra cars if they had one in the championship? Heck one even cost brendan gaughan a championship
