What do you collect?

TRL, they were made by Racing Champions and are now probably worth more than they were sold for. I guess that would be a good thing to look into.

I used to collect crystals...........the type you put in the window and they make beautiful prisms of color all over the room.....don't know what happened to all of them now.......

other then purses , i can't think of anything I really collect...recipes perhaps are one thing..........
:)

Hey cutie thought you would like this pic. We are going to order more of the Polish Pottery in about 2 weeks. I love the colors in them.

wow..those are pretty...never saw so many in one place...thanks..........:D
still can't find the platter of the one with a different pattern to show you...I really liked that ..a lot........:)

I collect hats I guess. I never really planned on it, but my wife informed me that I do collect them. I have at least 50 or so hats. Many are NASCAR, but many are not. I have several Goodyear ones I wear to work. I have quite a few from other sports teams. I have some NRA hats and others from different firearm manufacturers like Remington. I guess I realized this when other people started getting me hats when they go on trips (like my Mt Rushmore hat my wife got me on her trip there this year). They don't have any resale value, but they don't cost too much to collect either.

sgbg88,

Who said anything about dusting? Hehe. I think the dust give them a sort of rustic look. I do try and dust them once in awhile, but it does take awhile to dust them all.

Also, although 1:18th scale is large, it isn't the largest:

1:12th scale : about 15 inches long. I have five of those suckers.

1:1th scale : About 12 ft long, I have one and that's my Jeep. Hehe.

Here's an example of a 1:12th scale. The other cars in the picture are 1:18th scale. This is my prize an joy, my Viper. You could only buy it if you bought a real Viper, but I a family member bought one in overstock and gave this to me for Xmas one year.

Also, if anyone knows where I could find white shelf units that are a little bit shorter, I am trying to find some. My current ones are 18'' tall, and as you can see in the picture, there's a lot of space being wasted b/c the cars are only a few inches tall themselves.

Hey rpm....isn't it illegal to steal stop signs?

SPREAD 'EM, PUNK! :p

Hey RPM,
As far as makin' those shelf units shorter, couldn't ya' just use a hacksaw and cut them to fit on the lower side. You could make them any size that you required without the expense of buying new ones and then build taller with the new ones you buy. Just my two cents. :p

TN-Ward-Fan,
That stop sign was actually legally purchased. A company that works for the government puts up temporary signs in places, and when they are done with them they have them left over. They sell them to get rid of them and that's where I got that stop sign. However, the other road signs i have (not pictured) might not be quite as legal. Hehe...

Walrus_3,
I've actually already considered that, but knowing my handy-work, the shelves might end up crooked or lop-sided. Lol. I'd like to buy new shelves instead of cutting up the ones I have, but I might not have much of a choice soon!

RPM,
You might want to get yourself a mitre box then, to make sure the cuts come out square. You could use a C clamp and a block of wood to make sure the lengths all come out even in a set too. Just some ideas.

I also collect Deer Heads and hats I have about 500 hats that aint the same ones too

anything that has something to do with lighthouses (photos, figurines, music boxes, etc)

Welcome aboard, DeeDee. Pull up a keyboard and stay awhile!:)

This is the best bunch of folk you will find to converse with on the net. Hope you enjoy your stay. It is just a little bit lax right now, with the Nascar offseason. But watch out for Feb - DAYTONA!!!!

Welcome DeeDee, you'll love it here!

My girlfriend also collects "Old World Santas"

Thanks for the great Welcome everyone! What a great board! I can't wait until DAYTONA!!! At least I have my daughters Girl Scout Troop to keep me busy until then. It's Cookie time. lol It works out great that we are the busiest during Nascars off-season, (me being the leader has nothing to do with it!) LOL
Have a great day all!

DeeDee, I would bet that sgbg88 can help you with finding more Old World Santas! She sure helped me with my elephants!

I'm sure I can come up with some. I work at an antique store that is huge. It was a furniture store at one time and now we have over 100 booths in the mall. I'm still on the lookout for Kat. I'll try to tempt her with more elephants. PM me if I can find something for you! I love using the new toys I received for Christmas and this give me another excuse to shop!!:) Thanks for all the replys to this thread, I love knowing what other people enjoy to collect.

sgbg88, you can probably find anybody's collection stuff where you work!
I am going to thank you again!

Hey Joe, welcome and have fun here. Boy you would have a field day at my work. We have 2 dealers that have militaria. One has helmets, bayonets, field gear, and much more. The other one has a lot of WWII items. Uniforms and much more. I work next to Fort Knox, so we have a good supply! If your ever this way be sure to go to the Patton Museme! You'll love it:)
