what was better about 1984 in nascar??

IMG_0832.JPG
Cool to see this thread going strong. Why was NASCAR better in 1984 ( and really 80s/90's up until 2004....) this guy

Everything was better about Nascar in 1984 except the safety, better now, but other than that today can't even light a candle to it.

Look at the clearance of the front ends in the picture in the
first post. That's at least 2 or 3 inches. Now a days you would be
lucky to slide a penny under there . That is my top wish is
to get these back to a 3" clearance (ride height?). You will see
some driving then. And get rid of these side skirts while
you are at it. Its negated what was taken
off the back deck imo.

Great pic of the 9.

I dont mind the fact that there were a lot less cars on teh lead lap back in the day

better than having a bunch of cars get aps back due to stupid ass lucky dogs

i miss the days when finishing in the top 10 in the season standings was a big deal

Looks like we're near the end of the 1984 nostalgia list.

I enjoyed listening to all the old-timers talk about how great the sport was in 1960.

Find old film on some of the Riverside races. It's where I saw my first Grand national (plus those awesome LATimes Grand Prixs) it was an awesome course.

I liked Ontario too where I saw the Miller 500 with an Evil Knevil jump before the race.

I'm gonna get a head start and create a 2024 nostalgia thread.
Just a little preview:

"How 'bout that three time Monster Energy/Cash4Gold.com Cup champion Corey LaJoie, huh? Holding off the other 31 drivers in the chase field to secure the championship in his Hendrick Motorsports Kia. Remarkable. And how 'bout those Fox and NBC broadcasters? I'm really gonna miss those guys when Game Show Network and Discovery ID take over the TV rights next year."
