With Kurt Busch officially moving to SHR, that now opens up the #78 for next year. The #47, #42, #78, #51 are open now, some others could follow.

The #47 looks to be Allemendinger's.

The #42 could be a combo of Mark Martin and Kyle Larson or Ryan Newman.

The #51 could be Bobby Labonte.

The #78 could be Montoya, Labonte, or Newman.

Newman will expect a ride with a top team, but not many of those available now. He could be the odd man out unless JPM goes back to Indy Car.

Newman should get in that 78 car.

Very solid and he would be his own man there.

It will be interesting to see where Juan will end up. Who will want to take a chance on him?

Newman to the #29

JPM to the #78

Allmendinger to the #47, JTG Daugherty becomes RCR satellite

Phoenix Racing buyer is also supposed to be revealed this weekend.

Newman to the 29 of RCR

Martin/Larson to the 42 of EGR

Allmendigner to the 47 of JTG

I just can't figure out the 78 or 51

I'm very curious to see what FRR does next, as they have shown this year that their team can compete with the big boys. On a side note, I think Montoya is done in NASCAR just a hunch but I think he goes back to Indy.

This has been one of the craziest silly seasons in a long time.

And it's just getting started. There's lots of dominoes hanging in the air right now.

The #47 is a dead end ride. I doubt AJ accepts that.

The #42 - Larson.

The #51 could be Bobby Labonte.

The #78 - Allmendinger. They will have 2 good shots at a win each year, and he'll cost a lot less than Newman or Juan. Besides, FRR seems to be pretty good at reclamation projects. First Regan and then Kurt.

I think Juan goes back to open wheel and Newman is the odd man out if he can't get in the 42.

I was in the process of replying to your original post when you edited it. :p

29- Will become the 3 with Dillon
42- Kyle Larson
47- Allmendinger
78- Newman
51- I'd like to see Labonte get it, they do run HMS equipment, even as watered down as that is right now.

JPM goes back to open wheel. There are also rumors that JTG and FRR could add a 2nd team

  • Juan Pablo goes back to Indy cars. The way Memo Rojas is screwing up the #01 Rolex car, I'm a bit surprised Chip didn't move JPM over to that ride.
  • Austin to the #29 / #3.
  • 'Dinger to the #78. It's a better ride than the #47 (even with its pit crew problems) and FRR can get 'Dinger for less than Labonte or Newman.
  • Labonte stays in the #47; who else would want it?
  • Larson doesn't have enough experience to get in the #42 more than a half dozen times. If he gets the ride for more than half the season, he'll be the next Casey Atwood. Martin's already run for EGR once; if he was happy there, he wouldn't have left. That leaves Newman running full-time, but I don't know if he'll accept a one-year contract.

1) I don't think the Dinger comes cheaper than Labonte at this point.
2) If the 47 runs RCR cars and engines next yr as is rumored, plenty of guys would want the 47.
3) The 42 isn't a top 20 car right now, so how much worse could Larson do in his rookie season?

The #51 could be Bobby Labonte.

Bobby will be in the 51 in Atlanta this week. Coincidentally the new owner of Phoenix Racing (Harry Scott??) is supposed to be announced in Atlanta, could a sponsor and driver (Labonte??) also be announced?

How/why would anyone put mark in there car? Unless he has trickuration he is never going to win a sprint cup race.

rumor I heard is that Andretti is scraping together $$ to put JPM in an indy car.

Does Juan not bring a single sponsor with him to a ride ? I'm amazed that any South American dollars aren't attached to a South American driver .

I'm actually a little surprised that as of yet, Newman hasn't solidified things up for next year. I've never liked the guy but I would have thought that someone would have put a deal together by now.

Also I can't believe that an owner like Childress has been sitting on his laurels letting his flagship driver just walk away. I know there are many parts and pieces to these deals but RCR should be doing everything they can to bring in a top driver and it looks like they missed out on Kurt. If Paul Menard is the organizations top performing driver going into 2014 then they have major problems.

He
He still finished 4th, so actually, he outraced 39 people.
no he finished ahead of them by trickuration, that is only way he can run up front. he was 3 laps down at Bristol without a spin.

His flagship driver had is chance and for what ever reason couldn't get done. Not much to cheer about at RCR

Nope certainly not, Harvick is just about the only reason anybody at RCR had anything to cheer about the past few years. All I'm saying is Childress really ought to be doing everything he can to attract a top driver. After losing Bowyer and now Harvick there could be even tougher times ahead for RCR if they don't get a top driver in there.

larson----42.....chip's balls..he's ready
montoya----78....fr hispanic market
dinger----51.....kez/penske/scott buys team.
labonte--47.....champ prov.

newman---29...if he brings sponsor.....mentor austin 3 mainly.

hey.....i thought kurt would'nt leave frr too. ha!

Looks like Aarons has pulled the plug on Chase Elliott because of the commitment to Vickers and more money to be at the cup level. Not sure where that will leave Chase for next year. Might be another part time season at best.

Its just a matter of time before the Dillon boys are in RCR cars and everybody that works there knows it.

Hence why Harvick jumped to SHR so fast. Harvick knew what the deal was.

That one is kind of a surprise. Aarons is Georgia based which is the main reason they sponsored Chase. I wonder how long they'll stay in the sport though. Ken Butler retired earlier this year.

That's definitely a huge blow for Chase though. Aarons has financed his entire career basically. And his development deal ends at the end of the year, yes?

If Hendrick thinks so highly of him, he'll have to come up with something to keep him on the track. Hendrickcars.com may have to step up their support and I'm sure Pepsi can afford a few more dollars.

Unless Childress finds sponsorship for a 4th team, there will be no 29 car next year. That becomes the 3 for Austin Dillon.
