What's next for silly season?

larson----42.....chip's balls..he's ready
montoya----78....fr hispanic market
dinger----51.....kez/penske/scott buys team.
labonte--47.....champ prov.

newman---29...if he brings sponsor.....mentor austin 3 mainly.

hey.....i thought kurt would'nt leave frr too. ha!
I agree w/ your Larson prediction, the others not so much. Montoya has been in the sport for awhile and he hasn't attracted hipanic viewers or hispanic sponsors, I think he'll be nothing more than a road course ringer from here on out.

Labonte is all but out @ JTG, Dinger is doing all the testing for the team while scheduled to drive more than the 5 races JTG said it would be. Heck AJ is even driving the season finale at Homestead.

I don't think RCR is expanding to a 4th team unless Newman can bring a sponsor like Quicken Loans or something, but Dillon is getting the 29/3.

If Labonte could end up securing that 51 ride I'd be a happy camper. I think at the end of the day it ends up being a better ride than the 47.

I think so too.....but even I....a fan from before his 2000 championship just wish he would retire.
I hate to say it coz I love the guy, but......

If Hendrick thinks so highly of him, he'll have to come up with something to keep him on the track. Hendrickcars.com may have to step up their support and I'm sure Pepsi can afford a few more dollars.
I am not sure what is in the works right now if anything at all. I think the plan next year was to run the Trucks full time but that is now out the door with no sponsor money. It has bummed me out. I was hoping Chase could make a seamless transition into the Trucks and maybe the Nationwide cars without having to struggle with sponsors. He will be 18 next year so he is eligible to run all of the tracks.

I am much like you Clutch. Fan since before the Texas two step and all. Part of me wants him to stay and prove everyone wrong, and a part of me wants him to at least hang up his Cup career.

Another reason I wouldn't mind seeing him get the Scott ride, is because they have rides in NNS and Trucks as well. I'd love to see Bobby finish his career in a Chevy, and race some NNS and Trucks as well.

My guesses:

42 - Larson
78 - Newman (no decision has been made, just my guess. Could see AJ being hired as well).
51- Allgaier
3 - Dillon
47 - AJ (or Newman if AJ's with 78)
29 car and Bobby Labonte - I think both will retire.

Okay...

Austin Dillon to the 3, considering Ty is taking over his NW ride its a given.

Larson in 42, foolishy enough.

JTG runs a combo of AJ and 5 other drivers. The also dont secure the RCR deal.

Harry Scott screw up and puts Labonte in the 51...big mistake.

Newman in 78.

Earnhardt Ganassi to announce #42 driver Friday:Earnhardt Ganassi Racing has scheduled a press conference to announce the new driver of the #42 Target Chevy on Friday at 2:35pm/et at Atlanta Motor Speedway.(8-27-2013

If he can't secure a decent cup ride I'd love to see him run a couple of full seasons in the Truck series, be the first driver to win the championship in all 3 of Nascar's top series.

Okay...

We'll see how big of a screw up Bobby is in the 51 @ Atlanta this week.

He'll likely be okay. He's a talented young driver who has made some noise in the lower ranks and the media seem to take to him. I'd think that Hendrick wouldn't let him go easilly.

Development deal ends this year anyways. We'll know what Hendrick really thinks after that. Money talks and bull**** walks. Chase Elliott has talent but, just my personal opinion, I wouldn't put him in the top ten of up and coming drivers. But it will be exciting to watch if he and the rest of the up and coming talent ever make it to Cup.

Chase Elliott's about to become another victim of the fraternity-mentality that currently rules major league NASCAR racing.

He's also going to become a victim of high expectations.

If he wants to race, he's going to have to get out there and start pounding the pavement and scare up some sponsors. I think that he's done okay so far in his short career - no matter who his father his. He still has a lot to learn and hopefully he gets a shot to see if he can make that happen. Personally, I hope he doesn't get everything handed to him from here on out and he has to work/drive his ass off to get to where he wants to be.

He's still got a lot to prove, to be honest. He did great in Super Late Models but his car was rarely legal and he has numerous disqualifications and has even been banned from one series. He did great in Pro Cup but the series also changed the rules so he could bring a NASCAR racecar in to the series. He won an ARCA race but he won that race because he had a Hendrick car, Hendrick Cup Series crew that was flawless against inexperienced crews and, even then, he barely won the race.

He's gonna have to get rid of that "but" that comes every time he wins a race. He's gonna have to get rid of asterisks.

Then there's the media. They've set expectations way too high - to the point that they are and remain very untruthful in their reporting. All that "youngest winner in ARCA history" set me off because those damn facts got in the way of a good story so they chose to ignore them.

Problem is , there really isn't room for more than one or two up and coming drivers . Maybe Austin Dillon and Kyle Larson make it up next year . Everybody else gotta wait til a Jeff Burton or a Jeff Gordon decide to retire .

He was top 20 fast during practice and qualifying in the first Michigan race in the 51. A loose track took him out. Seeing how Atlanta is one of his favorite tracks I think a top 15 isn't out of the question.

Am I missing something, or is Roger just going to let A.J. go that easily? Seemed he was looking pretty solid after jumping in the NW car and winning two road course races. He stood a good chance to drink the milk at Indy if his belts hadn't come loose.

And PLEASE find JPM someplace to go besides Indycar!

Not Roger's decision really. Right now AJ has no contract to drive Cup with anyone. Unless Roger can produce a Cup ride for AJ, I don't think he can get him to come back to the organization.

Roger seems to still be committed to getting Hornish back in a cup car.

Mark Martin and Bobby retire or get part time rides maybe with the 47 (Maybe if the 47 gets a better engine package, maybe they'll sign someone full time.)
AJ drives for penske full time in nationwide next year

Newman in the 78
Regan Smith or Justin Alliger in the 51

Juan unfortunately without a Nascar Job.. if I was the 78 and I could wait til the season ends, I'd have a little competition between Juan and Newman and whoever does best down the strectch gets the ride.. but that's not how it works lol.

He was driving on the same loose track as everyone else, he took himself out and collected Gordon to boot. He just doesn't have it anymore plain and simple.

I'll be interested to see where AJ lands, I think he's done a great job this year in limited action. It would be cool to see him in the 78, I think he could do well with those guys.

Could be, but I seem to recall a bunch of drivers spinning out last wk @ Michigan, Jimmie Johnson for one. Everyone spins out on their own occasionally, or is your point he spins out every week?

On lap 4???
Johnson spun out in practice, what's your point?
