So, I was just looking and realized Rusty Wallace drove 3 different manufacturers while at Penske. Pontiac, Ford, and finally Dodge. So it got me to thinking about who has drove for the most manufactures while still driving for the same team. It seems like it might be Richard, that's without me looking a lot of drivers. I'm sure it's someone from at least back in the day. But if I'm counting right, Petty had 6 different ones during his time with Petty Enterprises.

Maybe this hasn't been talked about before. ;)

Remember, this only counts if said driver drove on the same team when driving the different make of cars. So someone like Kurt Busch who has drove for 3 different ones, only gets two since he drove two different make of cars while at SHR.

Some of those Richard drove were not with Petty Enterprises. He drove for Mike Curb for a while. Not sure if that was during the Buick tenure or not. But yes, he would be the leader.

Robby Gordon drove a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota with his #7 team in the late 00’s/early 10’s. He ran Chevys in 2005-06, a Ford in 2007, Dodge in 2008, Toyota’s in 2009-10, then back to Dodge in 2011-12.

Which may answer the question, "What driver drove for the most manufacturers on one team, including non-consecutive runs by the same manu.?"

@Blaze , fun topic.

Richard drove some Buicks at Petty Enterprises in 1981. He won his 7th and final Daytona 500 in a Buick that year.

A slight technicality, but Rusty's first two Cup starts were actually with Roger Penske in 1980, and those were Chevrolets, so technically he has four car makes with Penske, although the second go-around was "technically" not the same organization as the 1980 races. Count it or don't count it as you wish.

While I'm thinking about it, Harry Gant drove Pontiacs, Buicks, and Chevys at Mach One. Pontiac Grand Prix, Buick Regal, Chevy Monte Carlo (1981), Buick Regal, (Pontiac Grand Prix for one race) (1982), Buick Regal (1983), Chevy Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo SS (1984), Monte Carlo SS (1985), Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe (1986-1987).

After some more thought, Richard should have SEVEN with Petty Enterprises: Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Buick, Pontiac.

Kinda off topic but....

Whatever happened to Rubby? It seemed to me one day I was watching a race and realized he was no more.

I like how well this thread has done haha.

But no idea why I didn't remember about Tony Stewart.

A lot of these are before my time, or when I was really young so that could explain why I don't really fully remember it. But really cool shouts here.
