Kyle Larson could slide job his way to a championship this year.

Probably won’t have to worry about that. With playoff points that carryover to the next rounds now, Newman likely won’t be able to slip through the cracks into Homestead like he did in 2014, back when they just reset everybody to the same number of points after each round.what changes do you think nascar car will make if newman wins the whole thing????
Maybe, but if he doesn't then he could be a contender.Or he’ll slide his way into the wall like he did at Indy
And Homestead.. and Darlington a few yrs ago. Where else?Or he’ll slide his way into the wall like he did at Indy
I’m probably the biggest Newman fan on this forum, and I while I would of course be excited for a championship, it would be the biggest joke of all time.what changes do you think nascar car will make if newman wins the whole thing????

Nice to know that you two don’t count Kyle’s championship from 15 then.
The championship with the supposed " * " beside it ? There is no " * " beside the season championship is there ? I figure Kyle won it straight up but many don't share that opinion.
Without the playoffs you talked about in here, Kyle doesn’t win that championship.
Knowing who would win without playoffs can’t be said til the end of the season anyway. Kyle won this years regular season but we got 10 more races. They will be points to show who wins without playoff bs. Someone will post them. Let’s see then if Kyle wins or not.
Lets see
If not tho then it is what it is. Doesn’t matter in the long run because sadly the full year doesn’t matter.
This is overplayed. NASCAR is so absurdly long of a season that the points race really doesn’t matter. Doing a 26/10 has always been something I’ve been a fan of with the playoff points. Just like the WoO standings, who gives af who series champion. Much more credence is given to individual race winners in that series and NASCAR used to be that way as well
Had a tough hit at Cali a few years ago...Everywhere except the 2 mile tracks lol
I mean to each their own. But I rather a full years work matter.
It’s just weird since no other major sport does it lol. Definitely keeps your attention more during football season
Apples and Oranges....that’s why I’ll never understand it. But you’re right I preferred the full body of work over a 10 race sprint with 16 drivers. It’s sad they’ll never go back to the full season system but whatever, I’ll try to enjoy it for what it is which is a gimmick to increase excitement. If I had to choose between death, this playoff or the original 10 man Chase..I would pick the Chase. I actually would like to see how it’d play out with the playoff points and stages, I think it’d be a barn burner.Others need a playoff since you don’t play every single person every single week. With racing everyone is there every week and everyone has a chance to beat everyone else. Football you only got one person to beat each week. Same with baseball, basketball, etc.
So not comparable.
I think it would be awesome. He would have earned it.I’m probably the biggest Newman fan on this forum, and I while I would of course be excited for a championship, it would be the biggest joke of all time.
Kyle and Joey are my faves.Tough choice right now, Kevin,Kyle, Denny all being the ones to beat right now, my pick is its gonna be one of those three
Precisely.Betting odds from VegasInsider.com...
Kyle Busch 7/2
Brad Keselowski 6/1
Joey Logano 6/1
Kevin Harvick 6/1
Martin Truex Jr. 8/1
Denny Hamlin 8/1
Chase Elliott 16/1
Kyle Larson 16/1
Erik Jones 16/1
Kurt Busch 25/1
Ryan Blaney 30/1
Alex Bowman 60/1
William Byron 60/1
Clint Bowyer 100/1
Aric Almirola 100/1
Anyone who actually believes the championship is a lottery, as opposed to just trolling Nascar over its rules, would be placing large bets on Almirola, Bowyer, Byron, and Bowman. They have equal probabilities to win if its a lottery, and much higher payoffs when they do.
I agree the odds are heavily stacked against Newman because he doesn't have a large cache of playoff points from the regular season, which matters a lot in this format. Also, he hasn't shown winning performance, and that also matters a lot. But if he does get really hot and wins the championship, it would be no more of a joke than some of the "coast to collect" champions from the Winston Cup era.I’m probably the biggest Newman fan on this forum, and I while I would of course be excited for a championship, it would be the biggest joke of all time.
If Joey doesn't do anything else but rough up Truex at Martinsville again, it's enough for me, but I do hope he gets to the last 4.
This. The only thing I like about the playoff is that the intensity ramps up, voltage turned to high.I am at the point that I could care less about playoff's, points and all the hype around it.
I am interested in watching some good "RACING", that is all I care about at this point.
Looks like they need to work on their "chase spec" motor. I did find the white smoke billowing out of the front end to the turquoise color made for an interesting photo contrast. It was a pretty color to blow up to.
I have to ask Rev, I see you refer to Toyota's as WE rather often. I remember your history, but do you have any involvement now?Wrong race for that to happen, but nobody seems to be losing their sh!t over it....except me. When Toyota doesn't win, and WE blow up....the ultimate defeat. Damn....but it should remind everybody that if anybody thinks the champion has already been crowned....think again. Sunday can't come soon enough.
make yourself a party of one and do so.I liked the threads better we used to have to pick the 4 that will be eliminated from each round.
