ATTENTION ANY @FIAFormulaE TEAMS OR STAFF How can I make my electric wheel chair faster without the hospital knowing?” Wickens quipped in his tweet.

The request makes sense, given that Formula E cars are electric-powered by batteries.

ATTENTION ANY @FIAFormulaE TEAMS OR STAFF

How can I make my electric wheel chair faster without the hospital knowing?

Thanks,

Some clarification from the man himself. Not the news anyone was hoping for, but he has the determination to beat it.

Sad that he has to be like "yeah guys, it's as bad as people have been saying".

This guys a champ though. He can pull it off.

I want to post something nice. But it is so sad. Sorry.
I don't wish to be gloomy. I wish him the best.

He has a ton of courage, that is great, he will need it. People with problems like this that remain cheerful and positive are the most courageous of all. They are amazing.

Took me right back to Zinardi's rehab when I saw the above vid of Wick getting in the chair.

I agree with all the sentiments expressed above. But also I want to add... there are countless examples of people who lead long and rewarding lives even though they have permanently lost the ability to walk. So *if* that is the fate of Robert, he will still have many avenues to explore and conquer. His high spirits seem genuine... and amazing... so I'm confident he will make the most of whatever his long-term medical condition is.

any chance wicky races in 2019?

The dude doesnt know if he'll ever be able to walk again. That's where the focus is currently. Let's let the swelling go down before going the Paul Tracy route.

And they are the only ones to make "miraculous" recoveries. There is a reason for that, same with late-stage cancer survivors who beat the odds.

Small steps.

I'm always amused when I see health care professionals sticking tennis balls on walker legs. You'd think some walker manufacturer would come up with a better solution.

Rollators, 4 wheel walkers

That's what my father wound up getting when he became tired of replacing the balls. I can see using balls if you can't afford other solutions; they're serviceable enough. But in a professional environment, where the equipment is likely to be used for years?

Regardless, it's good to see he's still making progress.

Yes using the brakes is vital. Also you have to keep your weight forward of the rear wheels, otherwise you do a 2fer, a wheelie followed almost instantaneously by a face plant. DAMHIKT
