Can he? Yes.
Will he? No.

Kinda the same could be said about Pearson though. His wining percentage is only as high as it was because he ran half as many races as Petty. Petty's decline in winning percentage occurred in the waning stages of his career. For example, take those two drivers head to head. Petty comes out ahead in that matchup. Petty ran 1184 races in his career. That's 610 more races than Pearson's 574 starts. If you only look at Petty's first 574 starts as compared to Pearson's you'd find that Petty had a winning percentage of 24.91% compared to Pearson's 18.29%. Not even close. Both great drivers but IMO Petty comes out ahead. There were other drivers that had better win percentages than Petty. Pearson was one of them. The only reason Petty won more races than Pearson is because he entered twice as many races than did Pearson.
I'll give you your new avatar later..Lol...you're a glutton for punishment! You're on.
I appreciate you pointing that out. It is easy to inflate Pearson sucess, because he didnt hang around as long after his peak.Kinda the same could be said about Pearson though. I realize that many believe Pearson was a better driver. Personally it is an impossibile question to me. I respect them both.
The only thing I really dont understand is the lack of respect Petty gets.
Nobody ever carried Nascar better, in an era when Nascar wasnt socially respected.
He was class, the best ambassador we ever had, and like it or not he dominated longer than anyone.
But Pearson drove Fords and MercurysI liked Pearson but have always respected Petty. This is too hard to make a comparison. too many variables. Both were great drivers.

I agree.. not to take from what Kyle has done and it will be a HUGE accomplishment if he does reach 200. Its uncomparable to the Kings 200.. although I would put him in the same category as guys like Darrell Waltrip, Rusty Wallace, Tony Stewart. I think his number's in cup will be more similar to those guys'.I'm a big fan of Kyle Busch, but if he gets to 200 wins across all series, I'm sorry, it will not be the same as Richard Petty's 200 Cup wins. People make the argument that Kyle had to beat other Cup drivers to win those NW and Truck races, but beating 5-10 Cup drivers is a lot different than beating 42 Cup drivers. Granted, 111 wins across the three series is VERY impressive, but the fact that almost 80% of those wins came in the lower series does water it down just a bit.
