WNBA 2025

"There's a level of physicality they're able to play with against her. I knew it as an opponent. And I see it as her coach.” – Stephanie White

It’s astonishing how bad the WNBA has blown it when you have a coach saying she knew last year, when coaching a different team, that the rules are much more lax when it comes to defending against one player vs the rest of the league.

The WNBA is DESPERATE to be irrelevant again.

And it looks like Caitlin Clark will miss the All Star Game.

As many as four all stars could miss the game due to injury.

Cathy Engelbert should be fired today.

WNBA Implements a New Rule Caitlin Clark Has Been Asking For

The WNBA is adding a fresh and fun twist to the 2025 All-Star Game, set to take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday night. The league announced some rule changes that local star Caitlin Clark has apparently been advocating for quite some time.

This week, the league introduced the four-point shot to the All-Star Game. For the first time, players will be able to score from any of the four designated shooting zones, each located 28 feet from the hoop. There are two shooting zones on each half of the court.

WNBA officiating is no longer an annoyance. It’s a threat to the game.

Good article.

Yeah, it's bad when the commentators of these games sit there and break down a play.

The incident between Tina Charles and Aliyah Boston which Boston got called for was a good example. When Tina punched Aliyah, the refs said it was incidental contact and the commentators sat right there and said it definitely was not and was definitely intentional.

Aliyah Boston gets elbowed in the face in the same game. No call.

Then Sophie Cunningham gets elbowed in the face and the refs literally told her she flopped.

The same refs made a comment to Caitlin that made her go off. Like, she went from 0-100 faster than a Maserati and wanted to fight the ref. The fact that she didn't pick up a tech tells me the ref KNEW he did something wrong. And I think he was taken out of the game right after that.

It looks like Caitlin's injury was aggravated by a deliberate cheap shot from Jacy Sheldon too. I've seen that play broken down now and Sheldon absolutely did what she does.

There was the incident where Kelsey Plum knocked Lexie Hull to the ground (foul, wasn't called) and then kicked her back to the ground when she was getting back up (foul, cheap shot, no call).

Earlier this year, someone grabbed Angel Reese's hair and pulled her to the ground. Not a basketball play, just a blatant cheap shot. And nothing. They said Angel flopped and her hair is too long.

And instead of addressing all of this stuff, the league is fining Stephanie White.

I got nervous until I learned that they also did this for the 2022 and 2023 All-Star Games. I'm fine with it as a gimmick for an exhibition game, but I don't want to see a four-point shot or four-point line in games that count anytime soon. Everybody will suddenly think they're Curry, Sab, CC, etc. and start chucking from the logo. No thanks. :lol2:

Back when I played High School basketball there was only a 2-point shot.

As a lover of slashers and middy maestros like my girl Court and my man Rip Hamilton back in the day...

Also, Sophie Cunningham needs to beat the mother, the ****, and the **** out of Jacy Sheldon next time they play. Come right out and fight like they do in hockey games.

Email from the WNBA with more evidence that they just ****** hate their fans.

I think Reese was actually a reserve, but regardless, the rest of what you said is true and I take your point. Just laziness, that's all.

It’s not the first time I’ve seen this talking point, RE: Paige.

I thought Angel was a starter. But they also had that Olympians vs. WNBA format too which was actually fun. Like that 4 Nations Tournament deal NHL did.

She'll never see this, but yes, rest up, Caitlin. Don't try to rush back too soon, even if the season has to end up being a wash. It's much more important that you fully heal from your injuries.
Yeah I think she needs to go ahead and sit out the season.

From the Washington Post story:

According to kinesiologist and blogger Lucas Seehafer, who studies the health of the league, players have suffered 141 injuries since opening day. There are just 179 active players in the league, and teams play just 44 games apiece.

Yeah, that format definitely made the All-Star Game fun last year. It was a good little test for the Olympians. CC or no CC, I've found myself not nearly as interested in the prospect of watching the game this year. It's not even East vs. West, it's just random stars vs. random stars. Meh.

Yeah I think she needs to go ahead and sit out the season.
As long as it takes for her to fully heal up IMO. If it takes the rest of the season, then that's what it takes. This, too, shall pass.

I am in favor of Caitlin sitting out the rest of the year. In the off season she can go through some medical strengthening programs. She is young and has a long career ahead of her if handled correctly. The WNBA and Indiana would be foolish to take a chance of her coming back too soon.
