WNBA 2025

AB misses a tying jumper at the buzzer, unfortunate finish to an otherwise strong night from her again. Aari was pretty cold from the field tonight, could’ve used a couple more baskets from her.

Nice long break until Wednesday against Golden State.

That was a very entertaining game . It had
everything exciting about the WNBA in it, well,
except for a couple flagrant WWE moves.
Mad props to Kelsey Plum, she has some
serious fight and grit in her.

I haven't seen any mention of Timpson. I think she has a lot of potential, her defensive play especially but not to count out her offensive potential playing with Caitlin.

Says the person who accused someone of trying to kidnap her and said he was some white dude who threatened her when he was Arab.

Dijonai Carrington is cancer and the league should honestly oust her.

Watching a little bit of Chicago/Minnesota right now.

Angel Reese is really playing like an MVP caliber player right now. Easily a top-5 player right now.

Love the close-up on the "shoes".

But I haven't seen curtains on a basketball floor in decades. They still do that?

Angel Reese fans are EVERYTHING they accuse Caitlin Clark fans of being and they're the primary reason it's not possible to like Angel.

Yeah, the league that constantly props her up and tries to push her as the face of the league is out to get her. 🙄

The same media and same fanbase praising Angel for calling out the refs called Caitlin Clark a crybaby the other week.

I've tried to like Angel Reese, but, like Dijonai Carrington, it's constant drama with her. Every time Angel isn't the center of attention, she starts a bunch of drama so that she is.

There are 4 players in the WNBA that I don't care for. Reese and Carrington are at the top of the list by a big margin. The other 2 are mabrey and plum. I am not talking about their talent and ability, only that they are not on my likable list.

Kelsey Plum is very unlikable. From calling her fans creeps to the way she bulldozes through people.

Carrington and Reese are the top of my list of unlikeable players though. All the drama. All the race hoaxes. They have turned this game into a political battlefield for attention.

Hopefully the next CBA comes with mandated media training.

Unlike with the NBA when I followed that, there's no one in the WNBA that I truly dislike. There are some players I like more than others, sure, but I'm not a 100% blind hater or homer with any of them. They're all fallible human beings, capable of mistakes and wrongdoing, just like anybody else.

The only people I dislike at all with regard to the WNBA are those outside of it who go out of their way to stir up silly drama and invent narratives, purely for clicks, views, etc. Bonus points if it's done via a trash AI blog. I guess the very existence of all this could be taken as a sign that the league is coming up, but I could happily do without it.

The All-Star reserves have been announced. My girl Court is an All-Star for the second time! Let's get it! 😁

As for the rest of the reserves, I wasn't at all shocked to see Kiki Iriafen make the list, but Sonia Citron was a really pleasant surprise! I'm happy for both of them. ^_^

Angel has hitched her wagon to Caitlin Clark and has made herself a recognizable name. She would be a nobody without her constant feuds with and about Caitlin. I understand why she is doing it but I can't stand to watch it.

She’s a drama queen. It’s all she wants is to be a victim.

The last three players to have three straight games with 15+ points and 15+ rebounds all won MVP.

Angel Reese now has four straight games.

Phee is still the favorite, I think, though it will probably be A’ja Wilson because she’s the leagues favorite. The anti-Caitlin media wants Paige to win it, but Angel Reese has made a case for being a front runner.

Looks like Bonner is getting her wish to play with
her fiancé on the Phoenix Mercury. Going to be
interesting to see where the PDA goes with partners
playing on the same teams. Maybe an issue, maybe not.

"Loved" purely for the news. DB gets reunited with AT and the team where she won her championships in 2009 and 2014. I love it. ^_^

I couldn't care less about any PDA or lack thereof, but having followed Connecticut for most of last season, I assume that PDA will be as much of a nonfactor in Phoenix as it was there. I didn't even know they were engaged until the first time I heard one of the announcers randomly bring it up.

They're professionals, plain and simple.

Christine Brennan, the longtime USA Today Sports columnist, has a book coming out this week about Caitlin Clark and while promoting it over the weekend she took some pointed shots at WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert and how the league has handled Clark in her first two seasons with the Indiana Fever.

Brennan, who on Sunday shared an excerpt from her book about a controversial moment she was involved in during the WNBA playoffs last year, said she has been surprised by how Engelbert and the league haven't done enough to stand up for Clark, especially after the guard has taken some ugly hits from opponents early in her career.

She had this to say during an appearance on WHO13 News in Iowa on Sunday:

"The way (Englebert) has trouble talking about Caitlin Clark, or if she’s asked about Caitlin she’ll say Caitlin and Angel. Well, she wasn’t asked about Angel. You know, she was asked about Caitlin. ... This incredible inability to deal with the facts and state the obvious, it is astounding to me. How Cathy Engelbert doesn’t come out after the Marina Mabrey hit and say, 'That’s unacceptable, the refs got it wrong. You should have been kicked out then. You weren’t. But now I’m going to kick you out and now you’re suspended for another game or two.' That’s just unacceptable behavior for someone who’s that important to the league or to any player, right? (The league) can’t do that. They seem paralyzed. But it does make you wonder, me as a human being, what’s going on and why is it still so bad and so opposite of what any capitalist company—it's capitalism 101—you’ve got someone here. Run with it."

It’s odd that after complaining about the refs, Angel Reese was on the winning side of every single ticky tack and 50/50 call last night.

She flopped like crazy and got calls in her favor every time. She committed multiple flagrants and never got called. But the one time she didn’t like a call, and she played the victim card and a bunch of think pieces from the Angel Reese Media were written and here we are.

I cannot imagine what the media, which is so in the tank for Angel that it’s become disgusting, would do if Caitlin had this special whistle.

As good a player as Angel is, her attitude and drama continues to be indefensible.

Christine Brennan dropping more truths.

This time she calls out how the WNBA always adds in "and Angel" whenever talking about Caitlin.

The author of the article suggests Brennan thinks Clark should receive special treatment..

"It’s clear, at this point, Brennan believes the WNBA should have “Clark Rules” to protect its most valuable aset. That might not be a popular opinion among WNBA players, league officials, or even Clark herself, but it’s one that makes sense from a commercial standpoint."

The thing is, this is already true of several players. A'ja Wilson and Angel Reese both have special whistles. If they want a penalty, they get it. And if they don't get a call their way, they will raise holy hell in the media.

Journalistic credentials aside, Christine Brennan has a clear, obvious pro-CC bias and a book to sell accordingly, chock full of old "controversies" to rehash and fuel the perpetual angst of some CC fans towards her perceived enemies. The few pieces of hers abput CC that I've read come across to me as if they were written by a fan with an English or journalism degree.

As a great man once said, for the kind of people who like that kind of thing, that's the kind of thing that those people like. As for me, as another great man once said, that doesn't work for me, brother.

This sentence comes across to me as if it was written by a fan without an English or journalism degree, but nevertheless, the point stands.

Journalistic credentials aside, most of the WNBA media have a clear, obvious, pro-AR and anti-CC bias to fuel the perpetual angst of longtime WNBA fans toward Caitlin Clark. Their pieces come off to me as if they were written by a fan without an English or journalism degree.

Latest example:

The writer sides with Angel and notes that she had very few free throws the other night, seemingly taking joy in the fact that she was shown blatant favoritism today in Chicago's game against the Sky. Then, the writer touts Angel's stats (which have been MVP-caliber lately).

Athlon Sports "articles" like that one come across to me as clickbait trash AI blog posts. I generally avoid them regardless of whose side they're on.

You need a thicker skin, man. Everyone's not gonna gas CC up constantly, and that's okay. No one has to. We each get to choose our favorites and who we want to talk about, just like Christine Brennan does.

Eyes of the beholder.
The WNBA really needs a new commissioner. Actions including all of the planned expansion teams are not called for this quickly. Same as the lack of not doing anything with the officiating and not being proactive with all players.

Again, eyes of the beholder. There are some who refuse to believe what is obvious and thoroughly enjoy seeing Caitlin Clark being pummeled on the floor with actions that have no place in Basketball. There is a thing called WWE for those that like what we are seeing now in the WNBA.

As you said, eyes of the beholder. No one will ever convince me that Athlon Sports isn't complete trash. I choose not to waste my time reading any of that junk. You're obviously entitled to feel and do differently.

As I've said before, I like physicality, but not full on WWE goon ball, no matter who does it or who they do it to. There are some who perfectly enjoy full on WWE goon ball as long as it's done on behalf of a player they like. Unlike them, I'm not tribal with this league or any of the players and don't enjoy it regardless.

Really like some of the picks Caitlin's made for her All Star team... Aliyah, Sabrina, A'ja, Kelsey Mitchell, and both of the rooks I like out of DC.
For all our myriad philosophical basketball differences, there are at least four things that you and muggle and I can all agree on:

1) The officiating, or lack thereof
2 & 3) Kiki and Sonia
4) Sophie
