WNBA 2025

Just when I was finally considering hopping on the NY bandwagon, they go and sign Emma Meesseman. I'm glad to see her returning, but man, how many elite bigs does that team need? 🤦‍♂️

Cameron Brink's Block Party is back!

HUGE win for Dallas.

Paige Bueckers should be considered for MVP at this point. She is going to be the greatest player in history and it won’t be close.

Paige is not in the MVP conversation IMO, but she'll surely win ROTY.

Arike had 20 points and 14 assists in that game. Nice!

Are we allowed to talk about this? 😵‍💫

Probably belongs downstairs, if anywhere. I don't find the act itself particularly amusing, but my default initial reaction to patently absurd things like this is laughter.

Here, it's not only the pure randomness of this nonsense, but their decision to show it up close on a live TV camera before they even knew what it was. I get that this stuff goes down quickly, and the control room often has to think on their feet, but come on, man! Really? :XXROFL:

Bueckers: t 18.1 points, 5.6 assists and 3.9 rebounds
Clark (19.2 points 8.5 assists, 5.7 rebounds

Tonites Mercury at Fever game ,7 EDT, has a couple firsts.
First for Sophie playing her old team and first for
DeWanna Bonner to play against Fever since she left.
Dont know if CC is playing. ESPN3 or Fan Duel.

Yes, but you're not taking HBMETRICS™ wins into account.

HBMETRICS = HoneyBadger's Measurement of Expectation To Really Increase (his) Complete (and total) Superhyperbole

HBMETRICS wins can be used to determine an MVP selection. Any player who has at least one HBMETRICS win is automatically considered to be in the MVP conversation. A player earns an HBMETRICS win by fulfilling both of the following criteria:

1) Be a player HB has paid attention to
2) Have a solid to great game, as determined by HB

Players continue to accumulate HBMETRICS wins as long as both of these criteria are met. Players can string good and great games together to potentially create a Combo Multiplier and receive multiple HBMETRICS wins per game instead of just one.

However - and this is the key to the HBMETRICS system - if a player has an okay to bad game or doesn't play, their total number of HBMETRICS wins resets to zero. Therefore, at this moment, Paige is in the MVP conversation, and CC is not.

According to the various preview pages for the upcoming games in the WNBA app, CC will be out until at least August 15th, when they play against Washington in Indy. I suppose it's always subject to change, but that's what I'm seeing right now.

My interest is nowhere near as high without Caitlin Clark but I'll still support Spicy Sophie 🔥 and the rest of the Fever.

I've been terrible with it lately. I did buy and have been wearing those shirts, but I haven't been watching any games, just looking at scores. Minnesota is having an incredible run this season and is 22-5 right now, and I've missed the overwhelming majority of it.

Good work Mr. Gregory. Thanks for the update!
Yeah, same here Honey Badger. I'm hopelessly hooked
on the Fever and as a bonus I found out some of my relatives
in the mid-west has had a very close relationship with Coach Steph
for a better part of a decade so we usually text each other
during the games.

Should be an interesting game tonight!

32, 15, and 7 from AT in that loss. Goodness. Sadly, it looks like poor Lexie had a rough night, but at least her team got the dub.

Minnesota beat NY tonight in another close game. Phee and McBuckets killed it, and Court had 13 assists! ^_^

There's no way I'm missing those two games. I have to go back and watch them.

Angel Reese continues to be the most detestable person in sports.

She’s been whining on social media about Candace Parker stealing her clout and she’s been blocking Chicago fans on social who are defending Kamilla Cardoso from Angel’s fans who bash the shiit out of Cardoso.

It looks very similar to the social media beef that went down with Chennedy Carter and AR fans, which led to Carter sitting out a game to prove a point.

Angel is starting to look like a locker room cancer.

Full disclosure; A large chunk of Caitlin’s fanbase is no better, constantly going after Stephanie White, Kelsey Mitchell, Natasha Howard and Aari McDonald. A large chunk of them go after Spicy Sophie too. But I also don’t see Caitlin enabling the behavior from her most toxic fans.

Candace Parker is my one that got away, like Russ in the NBA. Had I been following the W when she was playing, she would have been my favorite. Since she was mentioned, I looked up her comments about Reese and don't see the issue, even as someone who likes Reese. It's CP's honest opinion, and she's perfectly entitled to it.

Granted, Reese fans don't have to like it, just like CC fans didn't have to like Sheryl Swoopes' initial opinions on CC. Ultimately, everyone doesn’t have to praise your chosen favorite as much as you do. They're allowed to be criticized. Deal with it.

Of course, these loud, overly sensitive pockets of various fanbases aren't unique to the W. They can be found across all sports, entertainment, etc. I get that sports are a competition and naturally invite this sort of behavior, but I've never personally understood the need for some to take it to the insane level they take it to. As a great woman once said, y'all too invested.

That is usually a good game Sabrina continues to knock the baskets down. I wonder how long Stewart will be out of the lineup.

The WNBA is so soft sometimes.

Players and the media are absolutely crucifying Indiana fans for booing DeWanna Bonner.

So Fever fans are expected to just be cool with everything DeWanna Bonner did because "she's a legend" or something?

Somebody mad about DeWanna Bonner gettin' booed in Indiana? Don't she play for another team? Who she play for?

The media and other players are making a federal case out of it.

It’s wild.

If these players can’t stand being booed or having fans ask for autographs, they do not deserve a new CBA.

Sophie gets tons of crap over rumors that she supports Trump. Rumors. And she doesn’t complain about that.

Let's take this Sophie discussion downstairs.

There's a difference between passion and the toxicity HB described. I'm all for the former, but not the latter.
Yes. I am aware of that.

As a Fever fan we already put up with Angel lying about us. I'll wait & see but I'm not going to throw the fans under the bus just yet.

Just in case it's unclear, I'm not throwing any specific fanbase as a whole under the bus, nor am I even referencing one specific fanbase at all. I'm also not talking about anyone who posts in this thread.

That's my entire point with this - it's not everybody who cheers for a certain player that I take issue with. It's not even most fans. These are small but vocal and IMO soft minorities of bigger fanbases.

We each get to choose who our favorite players are and how much we talk them up. Everyone else doesn't have to match these overly sensitive folks on the praise and worship scale. We all get to enjoy and talk about this game how we see fit.

Angel’s fans are everything they claim Caitlin fans are. Just rabid.

I think the issue with Angel’s teammates is she craves drama and attention and doesn’t stick up for her teammates on social media. I’m not saying she has to, but she is more active on social than almost every other player in the league and she should use her platform to stick up for Cardoso instead of blocking fans who defend her (without criticizing Angel).

This is a very bad look.

Yeah, I saw that Sab dropped 31 points, 1 more than Phee did.

Crazy how NY just got JJ back, and then Stewie went down. That sucks. I'm sure their record would be right up there with Minnesota's if they had their full roster all season long. They’re still the best team in the league IMO until somebody beats them in the playoffs.

I like all their stars and some of their reserves, and they're the closest thing to a home team that I currently have. The only reason I haven't been rooting for them is because I'd just feel like a frontrunner. I started rooting for Minnesota before I realized that they were such a good team. I just liked what I saw.

This is perplexing to hear and hard to believe. I just heard Reese stan for Cardoso in a couple of interviews, one of which was the post-game interview after they beat Minnesota. They seem to get along pretty well from the little I've seen in that regard.

I feel like I'm not getting all of the story or an accurate picture here, but I also don't feel compelled enough to dig further into it. No offense intended whatsoever - I just don't really care about what the ladies are doing on social media.

I’m glad she is. She probably needs to on social media instead of interviews. The WNBA media does like to play up drama even if it means omitting things. Like how many times Caitlin has denounced racism and the media doesn’t air those clips.
