wow Kyle larson

Sounds like Larson is attending the kyle busch school of being a arrogant butthead

Up until reading that from him I liked him, not so much now,

Honestly, who races as much as Larson does?

No one that's why he has this mentality because he's about as old school as most drivers to race as much as he can.

Chip is one of the few owners who allows it. The thing is that Kyle Larson is the hottest commodity of NASCAR atm and it shows.

My thing is that give credit to all of the drivers who do it. Stenhouse especially, he races in four and two wheels when he gets the chance.

Too much risk in running side show races.

Larson is a badass. I love that he'll race just about anything just about anywhere. How can anyone not appreciate that? Especially in an era where there's so little crossover anymore because the wife won't let me, the manufacturer won't let me, the team owner won't let me, the sponsor won't let me...
+1. He will of course be criticized because he is not vanilla enough... that is what (some) fans do. I for one really appreciate his racer's attitude.

I think Larson is coming along just fine and I like that. What I don't like are PC correct parroting corporate mouthpieces that spew pure unadulterated bullshyte by the ton.

I don't find anything wrong with what he said, comes off a bit eye rolling/whatever but it's in the context of the article. He really is the last racer in terms of racing anywhere/anytime/anyplace. This is why I believe he won't be going to Hendrick Motorsports to fill the 88, Chip is pretty lenient in letting Larson pursue outside interests. Miss Kyle in the Rolex 24 though, hope he gets another shot.

I think it is funny that people consider this arrogant. The guy literally comes back to his hometown and runs multiple sprint car races a year and is a staple in every big sprint car race in the Country. He is part owner of a sprint car team and helps to promote younger drivers in his cars. He wants to stay loyal to Ganassi because they gave him a shot. We have watched him for a long time out here in California, but recently I took my 5 year old to Placerville to meet him for the outlaws race and he was one of the most welcoming drivers I have ever spent time with. Kyle Busch and Erik Jones stayed in their haulers in February at the Winter Showdown in Bakersfield. Larson had my 5 year old sitting on a tire with him, just having a regular conversation with him and Rico Abreu in the middle of hot laps. There is no arrogance in him from what I see. He is a true racer and a true outlaw racer at that. He wants drivers to go home and support the tracks where they cut their teeth and he wants them to do it every weekend and weekday that they can. It isn't something he just wants guys to do, he is actually doing it. He sponsors money for the best 360 winged sprint car series the west coast has seen in decades. He is constantly working to improve weekly racing, which is what being a true racer is all about. He is the kind of guy who is a throw back and will race in the weekly series once his career is over.

Well I see it as Hendrick protecting his old drivers.

At the same time, he doesn't let Kahne run outiside races. I think though, if you want this stud, you're gonna have to give him a few toys to play with other than a main ride.

That's a pipe dream get though. He's not going to leave Chip. Specially now that they have hit their stride.

I think Larson is thrilled to have the opportunities Chip offers. Chip Ganassi runs teams in several series. Larson gets to run the 24 Hours of Daytona in a sports car class and I bet he'll get the chance to try an Indycar if only for a test drive. Plus Chip lets him run his other interests and Larson is currently leading the NASCAR season points - it sounds like a dream job to me.

His comparisons to Foyt, Andretti, etc. are valid, in that they drove as many different types of cars as they could. The question if he will stack up against them over his career, will probably fall a little short. Not because he doesn't have the talent, more likely it will be because there are better drivers, from top to bottom, in those outside series. We won't know until his career is over. In the meantime I will be keeping an eye on him. He is still a local guy to me, he just doesn't get to race here as much as he used to. It's funny, on another thread, people complain that the young drivers are too vanilla. Yet on this thread, they are giving him grief because he speaks his mind. I think some people are upset because he dared to compare himself to the legends of racing. If you compare his first four years, to the legend's first four years, you might be surprised how well he compares. That's some pretty big shoes to fill, but like I said, we will have to wait and see.

Outstanding post.

You realize even if a statement is correct it can still be arrogant lol. I don't care one way or the other, I kinda like him being more ****y honestly

That's what I get for taking people's word on here. Specially his own fans. @kkfan91
I never said he stopped, in the last 2 years he has gotten back into it more, but for awhile he wasn't

Dale Jr. discussed this on his podcast today, started off saying Kyle is a super guy and very talented driver at whatever he drives, and he didn't seem to have a problem with what he said, and he understood where he was coming from and said he kind of agrees with Kyle. Said there are some other drivers and he probably isn't the only or last true racer. Also talked about some of the limitations that drivers have in running races outside of Nascar. Really love Jr's podcasts.

Is this the old Kyle or new Kyle?

But it isn't arrogance when it is true. He isn't saying anything that is not correct. Who else runs a schedule like his? Kasey doesn't run very many sprint car races, same with Stenhouse, he has his team, but he only races big races, Bowyer still gets on the dirt from time to time, but who else? He runs trucks, xfinity and Cup. Then he heads to the dirt and runs sprints and midgets and USAC and even an occasional dirt late model race.

I dislike Larson in the Cup Series but in sprint cars I'll root for him.

Well Kyle Busch & Eric Jones run a lot of late model races. I've tried to be a Kyle Busch fan for years because of his talent but every time I think he is getting more mature he throws another temper tantrum. So now I'm becoming a Kyle Larson fan.

I'll tell ya I just can't really get into concrete late models. Dirt late models are just so much more fun to watch

Wonder who all the bandwagon Larson fans will descend upon when the others figure out what Ganassi, with whatsizname, is doin’ with the cars ‘n he ‘n McMurray go back to bein’ upper mid-pack entries.
