Me, too.Wish Sam had won.
Me, too.Wish Sam had won.
I’m with AJ; hate this “racing.”
Would love to know if that has every happened in any series in the Restrictor-plate eraEdit: Everyone finished. At Talladega. Unbelievable.
That was before my time.Dale Jr. used to lead the train for 1/2 the race. Nothing new.
You know what's funny is, I sit here and think man that was the dumbest move by a leader at a SSway I've ever seen. But I remember, I've been watching nascar for longer than Mayer has been alive. So that puts it in perspective for me lol just because I know that pulling out too far is a race losing move, Mayer might not have known thatA little secret Sam Mayer, this will make your eventual 1st win that much sweeter.
Sam is still learning. He's still wet behind the ears. You know what's funny is, I sit here and think man that was the dumbest move by a leader at a SSway I've ever seen. But I remember, I've been watching nascar for longer than Mayer has been alive. Yeah. It was his first time being there at the end for a chance. Definitely a mistake he’ll learn from. You know what's funny is, I sit here and think man that was the dumbest move by a leader at a SSway I've ever seen. Yeah his spotter kept telling him to back up.Sam Mayer will learn from that. If he doesn’t get so far out coming into the tri oval like he did he probably wins that.
Damn.Yeah his spotter kept telling him to back up.
I think Kyle Petty said it best. Mayer's move would have won on any short track in the country, but it won't win in an Xfinity Super Speedway race. You know what's funny is, I sit here and think man that was the dumbest move by a leader at a SSway I've ever seen. You're a sitting duck once you get too far out front, that's just physicsSo that puts it in perspective for me lol just because I know that pulling out too far is a race losing move, Mayer might not have known that
This is why Michael Waltrip is able to win a Cup race. This is why they will never ever change Daytona and Talladega.
2. He was good at itThis is why Michael Waltrip is able to win a Cup race.
It’s a crapshoot.2. He was good at it
He was good at it, he was there at the end. He also won xfinity and truck races at the plate tracks. It’s a crapshoot.
You and I could’ve won a plate race in a DEI car.He was good at it, he was there at the end. He also won xfinity and truck races at the plate tracks.

And crap everywhere else.I totally forgot Waltrip won 4 races. He was a dang good restrictor plate racer.
Idk. He had some decent runs at other tracks. Just never could pull off the wins at the other places. And crap everywhere else.
780 races without a win.Idk. He had some decent runs at other tracks. Just never could pull off the wins at the other places.
I don’t believe you read my post. I said he ran good at other tracks. Just couldn’t close the deal. He wasn’t a bad driver by any means. He wasn’t great either. I say a little bit above average.780 races without a win.
4 wins in a DEI plate car.
4 wins in 784 races.I don’t believe you read my post. I said he ran good at other tracks. Just couldn’t close the deal. He wasn’t a bad driver by any means. He wasn’t great either. I say a little bit above average.
Agree to disagree. I look at more than just wins. I look at things during races, top 5, top 10s. Then he had good numbers in the Busch Series as well. We just judge drivers different. Plus cars they drive have to factor into it as well. I mean look how long it took for Sterling Marlin to win. Then in 2002 he was a championship favorite til his injury.4 wins in 784 races.
Yes, he sucked.
