I disagree. The Truck and Xfin series' have been the least watched, least attended of the three series. No way that this is happening because Cup drivers are in both series. This is part of why the NASCAR brand is eventually going to lose its value in terms of broadcast worth.
 
So let's add it to the list...

2004 - The Matt Kenseth Rule (the Chase)

2007 - The Dale Jr/Tony Rule (expanding chase to 12 drivers)

2010 - The Jack Roush Rule (No more than 4 teams per owner)

2011 - The Jamie McMurray Rule (wild cards for winners outside the Top 10 in points)

2011 - The Kyle/Carl/Brad/Kevin Rule (can only compete for a championship in one series)

2014 - The Jimmie Johnson Rule (one race shootout for the title, determining the championship at one of JJ's worst tracks)

2017 - The Kyle Busch Rule (limits on Cup drivers in Xfinity and Trucks)

People didn't believe me when I said this limit was happening over a month ago in the Make Xfinity Great Again thread. Although I did hear it would be 8 races in Xfinity and not 10, I'd say my "gynecologist in Charlotte" has been batting damn near .1000 lately between this and me being the first on this forum to break the composite Xfinity body news as well.

I have mixed feeling about it. I don't like the Cup regulars taking seats away from the future drivers of the sport. But I like a few Cup drivers competing as a yard stick for the next gen of drivers. There is a special case for Kyle Busch, he is a team owner and has invested in the future of NASCAR. Another consideration should be that Cup drivers also gain an unfair advantage for the Cup race; they say the cars are different (they are) but a good driver can learn the characteristics of the track for the race weekend.

The article was simply showing Cup driver numbers participating in the lower series. It all depends on what you want to see. It's easy enough to know which numbers you want to ignore. I think the numbers are interesting and they aren't trying to deceive anyone, NBC, that is.....

Something I don't think anyone's pointed out yet is the impact of this rule on Cup drivers getting extra practice time. I know there are differences in between the various platforms. Still, many of the Cup drivers benefit from getting extra seat time at the track regardless of the vehicle, some tracks more than others, but especially the younger guys who have recently moved up.
 
I know that I'm in the minority here, but I predict a lot less interest by fans AND sponsors for these two series. For me the good old days are around 2008 when Kyle was winning the xfinity championship, and Keselowski was running over everybody. I'm not saying I won't watch or that I'm done, because I ain't. I love NASCAR, sometimes more than others, but I doubt those (now undoubtedly) 'lower' series will hold my interest. I'm bummed.
 
Good idea, i had something similar although it was much tighter. Hopefully I'll watch more next year.

Exactly. Often times when I post something constructive here that's genuinely intended to add to the discussion, I get pushback with people insulting me and insinuating that I'm some kind of liar.
Certain people here have had a bone to pick with me since day one and I have no idea why. Certain people here come off as being miserable and bitter individuals that try to put others down to feel better about themselves over the internet. Certain people here can kiss my NASCAR loving ass.

I disagree as well, Ive been skipping X/Truck races that Kyle Busch has entered in, now that there is a limit in place, I will start watching more X/Truck series races next year.

Kyle's only ran 4 Truck Series races, and with that being said, my interest has gone up with that fact.
 
A step in the right direction. Plus the "five year rule" gives Cup drivers with less experience a chance to run X and learn.

but what about that pesky problem of having to refuel the cars ?, make the length of the races to coincide with length of the fuel run for that track?

You're still getting your Cup drivers with JGR presumably putting Busch in the 18 for 10 & Jones or Hamlin in the 18 for the other races, with Tifft getting a few. Same for the 22 with Logano/Keselowski/Blaney.
 
WOW, I really am in the minority here, I watch the Trucks all the time, some of the best racing in all the series, I especially like it when it is ONLY Truck series drivers. Watching the young guns is great. I feel the same way about the Exfinity series.
I also feel that there should be NO full time Cup drivers in any of the two lower series Chase races period. JMHO

There are quite a few people on this forum who get good scoops and usually get called liars for it.

The XFINITY Series needed a change and it was bound to happen sooner rather than later. NASCAR took a good "Middle of the Road" stance here to keep everyone happy. The fans are ecstatic because they think this means Cup drivers won't win every race. And the sponsors/team owners will be happy because this doesn't really change anything.

What are they learning in XFINITY though? I mean, aren't these teams saying Cup drivers shouldn't be limited in XFINITY because the XFINITY regulars learn from them?

Agree Andy, They should be in X until they are ready for cup..not pushed into cup like most kids are
 
Pretty happy with this I suppose. We have a few of the people who run a lot who can still do it but I think this will be there last year to do it (Larson and Dillon.) then a few people who might run more now.(Chase)) then some people who it won't really effect for a few more years.(Ryan and Erik) I think we should be good. Do think they should extend it to all Cup Drivers for the last 8 races. Give a driver that final chance at making the chance, and then make sure that a Xfin or Truck Driver is winning in their chase.

I do agree that the Truck Series does have some damn good racing, and it should get better next year with less Cup drivers.
