If I recall, here's what we had prior to the crash...

1. Fontana (3/20): 8.86
2. Martinsville (4/3): 8.54 (hadn't posted this one but had calculated it)
3. Atlanta (2/28): 8.39
4. Phoenix (3/13): 8.08
5. Las Vegas (3/6): 8.00
6. Daytona (2/21): 6.25

Obviously I don't have 'em for Texas or Bristol, but I'll keep this thread going.

1. Fontana (3/20): 8.86
2. Martinsville (4/3): 8.54
3. Atlanta (2/28): 8.39
4. Phoenix (3/13): 8.08
5. Las Vegas (3/6): 8.00
6. Bristol (4/17): 7.53
7. Texas (4/9): 7.03

8. Daytona (2/21): 6.25

Looks like I picked the wrong week to miss my first race of the year...

1. Fontana (3/20): 8.86
2. Richmond (4/24): 8.61
3. Martinsville (4/3): 8.54
4. Atlanta (2/28): 8.39
5. Phoenix (3/13): 8.08
6. Las Vegas (3/6): 8.00
7. Bristol (4/17): 7.53
8. Texas (4/9): 7.03
9. Daytona (2/21): 6.25

Average rating of 7.92 through the first quarter of the season is pretty darn good, especially considering the extremely low expectations most diehard fans have had over the past few seasons.

The ratings make perfect sense to me as that is about how I have called the races so far. I will be interested in seeing how Talladega fares compared to the Daytona 500.

This list wouldn't come close to my ratings but racing-forums.com has spoken.

Thanks for your work on this. It's interesting to see everyone's take on these races complied for us to see.

Spring Kansas was one of the highest rated races last year. Not a lot of love this time around though...

1. Fontana (3/20): 8.86
2. Richmond (4/24): 8.61
3. Martinsville (4/3): 8.54
4. Atlanta (2/28): 8.39
5. Phoenix (3/13): 8.08
6. Las Vegas (3/6): 8.00
7. Bristol (4/17): 7.53
8. Texas (4/9): 7.03
9. Talladega (5/1): 6.85
10. Kansas (5/7): 6.50
11. Daytona (2/21): 6.25

These ratings seem incredibly accurate to me so far. Only thing I would change is moving Talladega up a few spots.

We have a new leader...

5. Atlanta (2/28): 8.39
6. Phoenix (3/13): 8.08
7. Las Vegas (3/6): 8.00
8. Bristol (4/17): 7.53
9. Texas (4/9): 7.03
10. Talladega (5/1): 6.85

I saw a good portion of the race up until the big wreck and thought it was good but nothing that would generate a rating of more than 7.5-8.5. The laps after the crash must have been barnburners or I was in a trance or something when I was watching.

I thought it was a pretty exciting race, and I guess it resonated well with everybody here. I think there were 52 ratings this week and only two or three of them were less than 8.

I am going to have to watch a replay as I must have been zoning or something. Of course I really disliked Star Wars, ET, Close Encounters and other popular movies that folks really liked and I thought new Coke was better than old Coke and I may be the only person that felt that way.

I appreciate Dover always, even if the race is less competitive than I hope. I tune in looking for a contest of skill, driving skill first, and team set-up/execution skill second. Dover is a skill-testing track, more than some it will expose any weakness and punish any mistake. I like that, even if "the show" sometimes suffers because one guy has the field covered. It is no accident that the best driver of the current era has amassed stellar statistics at the Monster Mile.

Add to that the fact that this race last Sunday was very close and competitive, with a lot of great side-by-side racing... that is why I rated it a great race. At first it looked like the 4 car might dominate, but that didn't last too long. I've been very, very pleased with the racing just about all year, but Dover got my highest rating of the year (so far).

I don't keep track of exhibition races in my race ratings standings, but for anybody who's curious, the average rating for the All-Star Race was a 5.95.

The ratings for the Coke 600 were all over the map, but in the end there were enough unfavorable ratings to make it the least-liked points race of the year thus far according the members of Racing Forums:

1. Dover (5/15): 9.46
2. Fontana (3/20): 8.86
3. Richmond (4/24): 8.61
4. Martinsville (4/3): 8.54
5. Atlanta (2/28): 8.39
6. Phoenix (3/13): 8.08
7. Las Vegas (3/6): 8.00
8. Bristol (4/17): 7.53
9. Texas (4/9): 7.03
10. Talladega (5/1): 6.85
11. Kansas (5/7): 6.50
12. Daytona (2/21): 6.25

Thanks, Yoda. Surprised to see Pocono ranked that high, but that's just me.

14. Daytona (2/21): 6.25
15. Charlotte (5/29): 6.11

I am still in shock over Dover but I can't think about it much or I will drive myself crazy lol. I ranked Dover lower than Texas so I was out of sync with everyone. Looking forward to Sonoma as I am sure it will be an 8.5 at minimum for me.

Would have loved to see the 19 leading the 18 on the last lap heading into 11 at Sonoma. It's still out there.... Just sayin'....

Yet, once again, one of the higher rated broadcasts. People love restrictor plate racing. racing-forums.com does not. ;)
I went a 7, but probably would have gone about a 9 had the big one not happened. It seemed the race really fell off after that.
