Who Will Replace Jr in the 88/25 Car?

What the hell are you talking about?

No plastic spoons ... is that it?
Lol the kid almost won at Pheonix. Quite a few top 10s and more good runs with bad luck.

I just feel like Bowman isnt any better than Paul Menard and doesnt have a tied in sponsor like Paul so he's a poor man's Paul Menard to me. Almost winning a race means nothing to me either. What I've seen of him between Cup and Xfinity the only thing that impressed me was when he was in the 23 car in Cup. Underperformed for JR Motorsports last year in my opinion as well.

Larson? If Danica bails this year I could see Larson jumping ship and driving for Stewart Haas. There would be plenty of Dirt sprint car possibilities that who knows might appeal to Larson, he has been pretty outspoken about that, and Chip doesn't have any of that in his organization and neither does Hendrick. I don't think either are to keen on it happening either. Whole lot of if's though.
I can't see Larson going to SHR . He said he is loyal to Gannassi and is outrunning SHR. Chip also allows him to run some sprint cars which Hendrick would not. I guess there is a possibility he could go to Hendrick if they backed a Brinks truck up to his door but I don't think so.
Hendrick is in kind of a bad situation. He's got to find a driver for the 88 now, the 5 soon, and who knows how many years JJ has left. William Byron is his only good development driver and I don't think is ready for cup yet although maybe next year with a season of Xfinity under his belt.

Larson is a another Kasey Kane. Personally I believe he will burn out soon and doesn't have the drive to stay competitive.
We'll see if this holds true, I really believe Larson is about to go on a mini run like Jeff Gordon's in 95-99.

Great response.

Larson's desire to compete in The Indianapolis 500 is well documented here but I doubt that many understand how important that is to him, given his background. NASCAR and stock car racing in general would derive more benefit from a competitive drive at Indy by one of its stars than it would having Larson become another face in a long list of faces at HMS.

JMO of course.

Just re-read this post. Freakin' excellent point about Indy. Just excellent.

Yesterday when the very nice lady at Hendrick was giving us a tour through the Hendrick shops I made a comment that I had worked around Alex a little when he was driving a dirt car hoping she would let a little information slip out about the 88, but all she said was that Alex was a really nice boy and a good driver... I already knew that.:)

A good read on how good this team is would be if they give Bowman the ride.
We watched 3 time champion Jeff Gordon struggle in the 24 car but the rookie
is doing fine. It doesn't matter that he hasn't won yet, he is running good and that tells me that the team is OK to Very Good. Ryan driving for Wood Bros. is another indication that the team and cars are very good, the driver just needs a little maturity to get winning.

I am excited about the new drivers and in a few years when Kenseth, Harvick, Johnson and Kurt are gone, Nascar racing will be very exciting. The reason being none of these new drivers have millions in the bank and so they will be driven to win.
What drove drivers to win or finish the best they could back in the old days??? They had to
feed their families and repair their cars for next weekend. That is what is missing in today's racing. It is also a reason for the decline in popularity. In the old days fans could relate to the struggles and admire the perseverance of the drivers. Not many today can relate to having a private jet drive us to work.

Does this imply Kurt, Kenseth, Harvick, and Johnson aren't driven to win?? And that NASCAR isn't exciting already?

One could argue that drivers in the old days didn't race as hard because they were worried about wrecking their cars and having to repair it themselves.

In my opinion "not as much as it should." These are the guys who liked to ride around for 250 laps and race the last 150.
This season is, in my opinion, the very best of the last 5 years as far as excitement goes.
I give credit to the stage racing for this. The only thing that spoils it for me is the last race of the season where even a guy who raced a partial season can win the championship and those who raced all season can go home empty handed.
Reminds me of the year Nascar destroyed MWR and made a special allowance for JG to get into the chase.

Lets just say they got the most of their car to win as much as they could. A driver with a 4 million dollar contract could afford to lift early get on the gas later and ride around at the back during the plate races.

Yep I am with you, don't need the playoffs, the stage racing and the points system that goes with it is going to ratchet up enough as the season goes on. At least I wish they would have tried that way first. It's like they have Homestead phobia if a winner is decided before Homestead. There would be other positions probably that would go down to the last race.

The drivers you listed are all still driven to win though. Never understood that reasoning of a rich driver not trying when they are usally the ones that do win races. These young drivers will also have millions pretty quickly if they sign with big time teams.

Junior just gave the best press conference I've heard in years.

Among other things he characterized the Penske situation as "impressive" for their ingenuity.

Awesome interview.

Figured they would Annouce this week because Indy week big announcement and endorsements he got last week from Jimmie Johnson and others.
