The 2019 Cup Series Mustang

A 2019 Mustang with a 2017 front end and a GT350 styled hood.

Looks odd. Glad another muscle car brand is in the cup series but it doesnt look like a ton of effort went into molding it like a 2019 GT350.

I was more impressed by the ZL1.

Doesn't necessarily look bad, I don't mind it and I like the front end. But it is a little odd, a sedan mashup of a Mustang.

At least Chevy tried to make the rear passenger windows mimic the road car with decal over part of the obvious SS windows. I wish NASCAR would let the manufacturers make the race car resemble the road cars. Screw the common template. It would be far more interesting if the Camaro, Supra, and Mustang actually looked like their real counterparts. The Camry is at least passable.

Edit: Photos show that they did a little bit with rear windows. Watching the video it looked like the Fusion windows to me.

Wonder who approved the headlight area design. Those things are modeled after the 2017 Mustang and are way too large.

Just a shame they could not get the real fastback slope approved.

Maybe Gen7

Pretty disappointing. It’s not bad looking, but not was I was expecting out of the GT350. Was hoping for the sleeker front end and hood design.

The ZL1 was much better looking IMO.

Looks like its a GT with a GT350 hood and GT500 headlights with standard Mustang decals.

Kinda weird if you ask me.

People are way too critical of this let's all just go back to the car tomorrow.... we have to understand that they are using a common template that they have to work around of course is not going to look like a actual Mustang or actual Camaro be happy with what you get things could be worse

looks just fiiiiine to me. The interesting part is that over 40 people worked on the design. All of the teams and drivers were involved in the process. If it is fast/faster or not is another story. The car spent time in Penske's wind tunnel, the wind shear tunnel, it should be a good piece. Tony said their engineers had a blast working with everyone at Ford.;)

Not bad, not great, just like the Camaro, its a Fusion with some new bits, I hope Ford has better luck with it than Chevy has so Far with the Camaro

I like it, but I think the Camaro has better looking decals.

eh, close enough for horse shoes and hand grenades. The front end is going to be on the ground anyway and going 200.

So the drivers had a hand in the design? Really?

I don't get the negativity, it's another two door rear wheel drive car back in Cup, and from where we were with the COT this is miles away and so much better, 100% step in the right direction. Now come on Fiat see the potential here!!!
I agree with this. I like seeing Camaro and Mustang used as marketing handles rather than mundane names like Fusion or Impala.

As for the styling critiques, I am bored by all of them. The critique of the stop watch is the only one that matters. This car is engineered and hand built for a single purpose... to race... same as any other racing prototype. If it does that well, racers will know it is beautiful. If it's slow, they'll know it's an ugly loser.

I don't get the complaints either. These are the best looking cars we have had in 20, maybe 30 years. And they are WORLDS better than the crap we saw 10 years ago. Anyone who thinks these cars are all the same "but different decals" needs their eyes checked. This ain't no COT
