Big change in the Xfinity series

This is a good start, and will very likely cut down on Cuppers in the races, but don't see it fully stopping them either. But I approve of this, and think it's gonna make things better.

I don't really see how this changes anything, but maybe I don't fully understand the importance of winning an owner's title :idunno:

Some owners like it, but yeah I mean it won't stop it fully cause I mean once another driver wins in that car, you're in the playoffs so at that point you can just have a Cup guy in it sometimes. I mean, you still would like some playoff points, etc.

Should make it where you won't get owner points at all if a Cup guy is in it, THAT could make things change a lot more.

More money for the owners who are running a full time driver in the series.

The owners championship is a big pot of gold at the end of the season. Who knows how much money it is but right now the 22 car of Penske is leading the contest followed by the 18 of JGR. All of the races won by the 22 car were won by cup drivers Logano, Keselowski, Blaney. Penske and the others will be forced to put somebody else in the car? My question is drivers are supposed to declare what series they are going to run in. So what will the teams do? Will Nascar allow them to find a guy who declares he is an Xfinity driver for the playoff races? Time will tell I guess how they try to get around it or if they will just get a full time driver for the series.

No points for anyone not running that series or anything lower.

Are you saying that's what it is or should be?? Cause I know the drivers don't get driver points, but from what this seems, it seems the owner stuff just isn't any owner playoff points, unless I'm reading it wrong.

Thats what it will be. If you are licensed to any series above trucks or xfinity the car owner will not receive points for the race.

I hope you’re right. Cause everything I read said no playoff points or berth for owners championship. I not seen anything say owner points.

Right, you just said it, no points for Owners Championship.

"The same objective will be at work in the owners’ championship format next year in both the Xfinity Series and Truck Series, which will be renamed the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series in 2019. Owners in both series will only earn postseason benefits — playoff points or automatic playoff berths by virtue of wins — in the owners’ standings if the driver earns championship points in their respective series. The move is meant to create incentives for organizations competing for the owner title to field series regulars."

Some of the wording is a bit confusing in the article.

the restrictions are just for the playoffs. Keeps the owners from hiring cup drivers in the playoffs. If they do, they don't get any points for the car in the owners championship.

See @Spotter22, it’s about post season benefits. Nothing saying they won’t earn points period.

No I said no playoff points. That’s different than points.
You are confusing yourself. I said that if you are licensed to a series higher then xfinity or trucks the owner will not get points for you racing, thats for the owners championship not the drivers Championship.

Lol no it’s you confused as that’s what I’m saying. They get owner points for the season, but not playoff owner points.

Good. As a Penske fan was hoping for Cindric or Briscoe or both to be full time XNS drivers. Most thought it was DT that wanted cuppers, but it's Penske as a whole

The owners championship is a big pot of gold at the end of the season. Who knows how much money it is ...
If we don't know how much money it is, how do we know it's a pot of gold? How much money was payed out for the 2017 owners' championship? How much was it compared to what that that team received from sponsors for the races driven by Cup drivers?

If it wasn't a substantial percentage, teams like Penske and Gibbs may not care.

lol, NO Im not. If Brad K wins in the 22 the owner ( Roger Penske) wont get owners points for that race or the playoffs. You are still confused.

No mention ANYWHERE that says they won't get OWNER POINTS at all, if the driver isn't going for points in that series. Find me anywhere ANYWHERE that says what you're telling me. I'll wait.

"But we also think that it presents something really important, which is as we go into the playoffs, we don’t want an Xfinity team owner or a Truck team owner to hire Cup drivers to come in and win them additional points for the playoffs.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like all this could have been explained a little better.

As long as the B Main cars run the same tires as the Cup cars there will be crossover ... most noticeable whenever a news tire development is unveiled at a particular track.

:XXROFL::XXROFL:So you're going off something not even confirmed or said yet. When every single story about it says other wise. Okay.
Yes, Im going off something I was told by people who work in the business, might have misunderstood, but like I said Ill wait to I hear a clarification.

I didnt edit any thing bud.

:idunno: Well then if it wasn't you, and it was someone else I don't see what was wrong with asking me that. Like I said, I would have just mentioned how you probably hate you could be wrong, and how I honestly hope you're right. I rather it be no owner points period. But everything else is pointing to it being playoff owner points only. Like hell I rather you be right, doesn't mean you are.

I did the editing. Both of you were getting to the point of turning this into a personal disagreement, in my opinion.
No point in calling each other out in open forum.

I, too, want this new rule to be clarified: strictly CHAMPIONSHIP points concerned or regular OWNER points involved, also.

I mean, I was doing no such thing IMO. Other than telling him he always likes to be right, which imo isn't so bad.

I don't understand the difference between owner points and championship owner points. Don't all owner points go towards an owner championship?
