2018 South Point 400 Pre-Race Thread

Pre-season media day, Daytona 500 media day, playoff media day, Homestead media day...It's no wonder why these guys look completely annoyed by the time the awards banquet and all the stuff that comes with that rolls around.

It's the same with most sports' media days, esp. at the beginning or end of a season. The media pools are chock full of twits who don't normally cover a given sport, don't know squat about it, and expect those involved to waste time giving them an introduction to it.

"Hey, that 'Chase' thing is starting! It's a slow day on the society beat; reassign Bobby to cover it"

Heading to Vegas right now in the motorhome with @BobbyFord and family.
Getting excited.

Welcome back to the USA, I hope you have a great time.

I hope this was a show car and not the backup car.

Practicing for after the race in case he wins. Gotta mess up those winning cars rear fenders and other parts and pieces.

Does NASCAR not think things through when they put this on a Sunday afternoon in mid-September in Las Vegas? Don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out how much of a furnace Vegas is.

I live here and as soon as they announced the date, I knew I wasn't going.

The forecast temperatures for this weekend are actually about 5 degrees warmer than usual. But at this point in my life, I wouldn't even want to sit out in ~94 degree weather. I spent enough time during my career working outside in temperature extremes, I'm okay with limiting my exposure nowadays. :)

At least it's a dry heat! :D

Coming from Utah I would have went if the hotel prices weren't still pretty sky high.

Dry heat isn't terrible though compared to the eastern humidity. At least the racing will be better in the daytime than night.

We would and will have a blast. You need to come soon!
We're planning on making Sonoma next year but the other western races aren't in the wife's 2 month vacation window. I gotta talk her into retiring. :D

LOL they just went to commercial with 8 mins left in the 1st round.

Ratings are down because there's nothing ever on.

You know Starcom is a small team because had they had to bring their Darlington Throw back car because of the wreck Monday at Indy.

They didnt have time to get a new car prepped, I hear they get their 1.5 mile cars from LFR

Absolutely love the look of Bowman’s car. When I was younger and my parents got me into NASCAR, Mark Martin was my favorite driver and always loved the look of the Valvoline cars. Wish that was his primary scheme. First post here, happy to have found a solid NASCAR forum!
