Then Hinch spins it again entering the hairpin late in the session but doesn't make contact with anything.

Man, I feel horrible for Gabby this year man. Harding was a new team and honestly I think he got ****** over with Herta and O'Ward coming in. It sucks to see because he's had some good runs for the team this year.

Herta and O'Ward bring in that funding though. I wish the best for Gabby because he really got the raw deal this year.

I have mixed feelings about this race. Being that it has double points and all.

The thing that screwed Montoya a few years ago is the thing that could save Rossi this time. Back then I wished Dixon could go fly a kite. This time, I want him to win it.

A double points finale is a crappy gimmick, and yet if any half-measure like this prevents a 'playoffs' from being instituted, so be it. At least Dixon is still rightfully in place to win it based on season-long performance.

The IndyCar points scale is also reasonably fair in how it balances rewarding wins and consistency. I'd perhaps go 50-35-30-27-25 down to a flat 5 points after 15th, but it's close enough.

I feel like there has been a significant tipping point between NASCAR and Indycar. With Indycar looking like a better avenue for new up and coming drivers to go and thrive. Also the sport itself feels like its gaining more traction as NASCAR's wane.

Man, if Alonso decides to jump in, it will solidify the Indycar series as the main event in the US.

Big debut weekend from Pato O'Ward so far. Colton Herta has gotten most of the hype, but Pato kicked some major ass in Lights this year.

It's going to take a lot for Rossi to pull this out, but I'm pulling for him. Three consecutive first-time champs would be cool.

Note: This list does not consider laps led bonus.

Rossi with a flat and wing damage

Rossi Might not even finished in second place in the standings. LOL

No Rossi sympathy caution? !
I never seen the day.
What a contrast they act serious about this stuff.

I’ll tell ya what I love how F1 does it. I wish other forms of racing did

Really hoping bad luck bites Dixon, I can't stand him. Come on Rossi.

The range I had seen was 23-25 laps at max between pit stops. Rossi trying to do this on two more stops seems incredibly unlikely, but I guess they need to run in the exact opposite direction of whatever Dixon does.

Having been introduced to Sonoma through NASCAR, after they changed how they run the course of always throws me off to see the course Indycars run.

I like Brian Herta so much. I hope his son has a great career.

These guys are under the impression Rossi is going to inevitably win this race. Lol

It's an absolute cluster in the midfield. RHR needs to keep Dixon behind at all costs while Rossi picks his way through.

Huge dive by Rossi on Newgarden. This is getting good.

Dixon and Rossi are the only two in the top five on blacks to the finish. That should about do it, barring any caution or mechanical failure.

Kimball hasn't done too well this year. He might be out of a job next year.

I thought it wasn't bad for a Sonoma race, although I can't really say I'll miss this place going forwards. Hopefully Laguna Seca pans out. It at least has a history and aura that Sonoma never will.

Very fun season overall; I think they killed it with the new aero on the street circuits, road courses, and short ovals. The three superspeedways probably left something to be desired with the increased turbulent air coming off of the cars there.

Breakout season for Rossi. He's going to be a star for years to come, and hopefully he'll have a lot more battles with Wickens in the future. For the foreseeable future I think IndyCar is in a pretty decent spot.

2nd that about Rossi. I think he's the star of the future. I'm hoping for Wicken's return by St. Petersburg.

I was just looking at the top four drivers: 1st - 2nd- and third places this year. Correct me if I am wrong.

Dixon 1)- three
2)- two
3)- four

Rossi 1)- three
2)- one
3)- four

Power 1)- three
2)- three
3)- two

Hunter-Reay 1)- two
2)- four
3)- ------

That extra second place won it for Dixon.
