Dont know if this has been discussed but Kenseth sure did give that 6 a ride in the finale at Homestead. No fluke here, he flat drove that bad boy. Dont think we will see him around much but he went out on a positive note for sure. Might be a little hope for that Roush bunch in 2019 which would be nice.

I'm just sorry that he didn't get much notice during the race. :(

It was pretty sweet watching the little coverage we had of the last Winston Cup Champion wheeling a number 6 Roush Ford to a top 10 finish. Bogus that NBC paid very little if any attention to that.

I didn’t see the race but am very glad to hear Matt did so well in a so so car. I hope he retires and has as much fun as Carl Edwards seems to be having

Jr. Had half the career Kenseth did and nbc treated it like Jesus ascending into heaven last year. A legend of our sport Matt Kenseth wheels a 28th place ride to back to back 6th place finishes to end his career and don’t even hear a peep. Rick was likely to busy googling Logano’s team to find some kind of death or other drama to hype up the championship

Legend? that's a huge stretch.

If you want accolades it is always better to be popular than good if you can’t be both. Forty years from now there will be a lineup at the dentist’s office while Junior is getting his dentures adjusted. Matt could walk down main st in Milwaukee today with his hair on fire and wouldn’t be noticed. I bet that is just the way he likes it too,

I don't want to rain on anyone's post BUT I look at a man for what he is and his humanity.
2 men in Nascar have proven they don't deserve the accolades their earlier career earned them.
Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth have never admitted they crossed the line from being decent human beings.

Ok fella. Say hi to Tattoo on fantasy island for me
Huh? How can I it's a fantasy. If you think Matt Kennseth is a legend then you should include Greg Biffle, Jimmy Spencer, Geof Bodine, Jr, and a host of others in that category. He won one title, hardly legendary material.

Ask Jeff about the bunnies lol ;)

I'm sure all of those sick people in Africa that got treatment and those poor kids in the Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital are REALLY concerned about the fact he purposely wrecked Clint Bowyer one time..........

I didn't listen to the NBC broadcast because of problems like this but did listen to the NBCSN side of things with Ned Jarrett, and Calvin Fish. There were so many stories that weren't covered, guys retiring after long careers, many races with in races, like the battle for fifth position the probably wasn't mentioned by the gerbils. It was funny but on the other broadcast that was supposed to be following just the final four drivers many of those were shown and covered briefly.

We are talking about a man's racing career and his integrity.
Don't try and excuse a man's actions because he did a little good along the way.

BTW do you understand how charities work? Who is the biggest financial benefactor?
Who is the person who is in charge of the JG charity? Who draws the big bucks?
Look up his financial statement for filing with the government.

So how is JG a piece of **** again?.. and Matt Kenseth for that matter?

Assuming the latter is due to the Martinsville incident.

You already know the answer to that.
Would you like Nascar to sink to the depths both those drivers displayed? I doubt it.

If a couple of hotheaded incidents is all it takes for drivers to have "crossed the line from being decent human beings" then the field, the HOF, and every form of racing is full of damned souls.

I recall he said either pre- or post-race that he was basically done. I viewed his return this season as an encore; you're glad to get it but you know it indicates the performer is leaving the stage.

You nailed it, they are all 'assholes' and would not have gotten where they are today if they were not. You can be the meanest mafk on the track and still be a great person off. Big E comes to mind.............

Has he definitively confirmed that he is done?

That was a great run for him Sunday, glad to see it.

Junior never asked for the craziness that comes with being a legends son.I think he has handled it pretty well considering how he could have let it go to his head.I don't care for him announcing that much but his Dirty Mo podcasts are pretty good and when him and Kyle Petty tell their stories. So I would just move on to much more deserving jerks. There are plenty to go around.

I was surprised they didn't give Matt more attention considering how well he ran

Since we are off topic I don’t think that a driver should have his career judged by a couple of on track incidents. For me it is important to look at a driver’s career in context and totality and in the case of Keseth it is a good body of work.

I apologize I just get tired of the Junior bashing.
So what are Matt's plans for the future?
I remember when Matt started they called him "Matt the brat" lol.He had one of those quiet tempers where he didn't seem mad but showed it on the track.
I also remember Carl acting like he was going to hit Matt and Matt flinched.Never much liked Carl after that.

Since you mentioned Carl, if ANY driver is going to be labeled a POS for the rest of his life for on-track retaliation, then Cousin Carl goes all the way to the top of the list in my book for trying to put Kes in the grandstands at Atlanta. That makes anything JG and Kenseth ever did look like door dinging somebody in a parking lot.
