This sums up Nascar fans perfectly

So because the media blew it up and people all over were outraged it's wrong? We live in a world filled with overreaction from meaningless events. At the end of the day it was his to do with as he pleased. If he wanted to take a dump on it, it's his to do so. It just shouldn't be that big of a deal in the grand scheme. Trying to compare the Xfinity Nashville trophy to the Harvey J Earl Trophy, as was done earlier, isn't even the equivalent of the Conference Finals trophies compared to a Super Bowl/Stanley Cup/NBA Finals trophy. It isn't like the guy tipped over the Martinsville grandfather clock.

Hate to break it to you, but every trophy doesn't have to have significant meaning to every person. I can understand if someone doesn't like KB that this event just adds fuel to the fire, but that is because the people who dislike his antics/actions are looking for a reason. What I have never understood is what KB did had zero impact on any of our lives yet, it was met with incredible vitriol by people. That is a sign of people just wanting to be angry at something.

IDK how old the guitar smash up incident is but it is way past my statute of limitations for remaining angry.

Fans got annoyed with Jimmie Johnson exposed the deep secret that over driving the car into the corners does not yield to more wins and does not make the driver better.

and Carl showed everybody that a game boy ricochet does not work when trying to pass Jimmie the J.

I thought your point about the guitar event just adding fuel to an already existing fire rang true. Also I thought your points that the incident did not impact our lives and that people wanting to be angry about something was accurate.

Over the years I have seen many drivers take revenge against another because they felt wronged. Some of these incidents have been ugly and dangerous but i forgive and forget and move on. Things like this are probably why I refuse to stay mad about a little guitar thrashing. My opinion only.

IMO the fans hold onto grudges much longer than most drivers and athletes. I think the mindset is much different as pros always seem to be looking ahead and preparing instead of stewing over something that happened months or years ago. It makes sense to me.
