Las Vegas test 1/31-2/1

What if your customers tell you the cupcakes taste like sheet and you keep changing the flavor and texture of the sheet? How many people are going to search for a more palatable snack treat?
:p

I understand, but

NASCAR isn't a bakery. They let the drivers hit each other on and off the track. They market the hype and drama of violent collisions, passionate drivers and crew in the heat of racing (and immediately afterward), have video of driver legends of the past giving opinions similar to KyBu, etc.

KyBu's criticism was informed (he was actually the one driving the new formula), measured, and appropriate for the "Test" interview. The threat issued by Probst was walked back.
:idunno:

There is another saying that comes to mind. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Kryle is entirely free to go find somewhere else to race, where all of the cars are perfect, and every rule is one he agrees with. La La La.
:booya:

Yup.

NASCAR is making a weekly serial, and it is up to Probst, VP of "Entertainment" (Innovation and Racing Development), to stage the racing for the cameras. NASCAR has to crowd the cars, get them charging in a mob where contact is likely and drama is all but guaranteed. Look to modern movie making for developing the immersive experience with greater emphasis on targeting a new generation of fans and enhancing NASCAR appeal to them.

The social media hype will attempt to pull as many people in to participate in the experience to keep the buzz going throughout the week. Link it to the Video Gaming experience and get more nerds iRacing to draw them into live NASCAR racing.

NASCAR is seeking a generational shift. Those of us in the current fan generation are not enough. NASCAR is sending a messenger like Probst to tell us things are gonna change, and as NASCAR updates its product by chasing whatever they're calling the new generation/s of consumer, the old generation become less relevant.

Fine.

However, when they try to tell us old stubborn guys that KyBu has to get used to eating sh!t-sandwiches when he's in front of the camera -- many of us call BS.

If I were trying to fix something and I've got Jimmie being Jimmie, Brad painfully choosing his words, and KyBu succinctly putting his thoughts into simple straight forward language -- GIVE ME KYBU ALL DAY. (Oh that was painful...) :D

===

Probst said. “I think they’re going to find it will be very entertaining.”

Great post!

If some of you owned a bakery and your counter person told the customers "these cupcakes taste like sheet" how long would they have a job? In 2003 I fired a First Officer that had been with me for several years and was a top notch one. But because when he Spouted off one time too many about the Company rules he was deemed to be a liability. He lost his next two jobs for the same reason and was last seen blaming everyone but himself

A flawed analogy

It is just the Kyle haters trying to get in a gratuitous shot. If Chase Elliott or Kevin Harvick said the same thing these people would find the comment astute.

Kyle said that anyone could drive the car. What I take from that is the cars are much easier to drive this year then last.

NASCAR is bleeding fans like a hemophiliac and these guys are up in arms about an innocuous remark that no one outside of the industry heard. If you believe these these guys Kyle holds so much power over people that something he says can cause the series to fail. It is completely nonsensical.

no man, it was just a stupid thing to say. Kyle happened to have said it channeling his inner Denny. I believe you are the one who is blowing bubbles.

I saw that goalpost shift! How did Kyle hurt Nascar by what he said? Be specific.

I wasn't aware that Kyle Busch was employed by NASCAR. Good hire! BTW, when the baker says, "I like these more than these," the baker gains respect from customers. Why? Because he is being real.

Coach pays Kyle. Am I right? Good to know that Kyle is getting a NASCAR cut! In that case, we had better get those attendance and TV numbers up!!!!

Good try. :XXROFL::XXROFL:

No, nailed it. Joe Gibbs is Kyle's boss--not NASCAR. Flawed analogy as has been said, but you do try hard. Your bakery thing is a joke. Can't tell you how many times I go back to a restaurant because the waiter told me about preferences. You like the company line. Okay, then "Everything is Great!" as has been said.

Joe Gibbs is kybu's boss but Nascar could sheet can him anytime they want to. They've done it before with other drivers/crew.

That's an opinion and you're welcome to it.

In a world of fake stuff, being real disturbs many

I believe the voice of Nascar said you just might be hurting your pocket book. That ol "actions detrimental to stock car racing" could have ol Kyle being the darling of the local Las Vegas dirt bowl 1/4 mile.

I ask wait staff all the time if a dish is good or not and they will let you know directly or indirectly. I appreciate the honesty.

Probst is an idiot that Nascar has likely muzzled and I doubt he has authority in matters of discipline.

Kyle has plenty of money. "Actions detrimental to stock car racing,".....Try Harvick's blade with a forged NASCAR stamp, and then his idiot comments that he wants his Crew Chief to keep doing it? How do you feel about those actions? How does NASCAR feel about those actions? Comical. Kyle will be in IndyCar before NASCAR runs him out.

Why doesn't Steve (or you) ever mentioned Kez's comments? Comical. It's been a fun morning.

Kez's comments about the test are posted in the Kez thread. :idunno: He wasn't crying about the test though and being a jackass (this time)

Yeah, what the hell does he stand for? Flip/flop....no thanks. Disappointed in Kez. He didn't relent when he said that NASCAR was getting away with murder with his "rude awakening" bull**** in '17. He has softened. Sad.

Really? How? Sounds great, but in reality? Probably not.

This DQ'ing thing is littered with inconsistency. After the NASCAR "journalists" tweet that all inspection will be at track, and that fans will know who won the race before they leave, Scott Miller says on NASCAR Radio that the engines will be inspected at R&D after the two race duty cycle. Could be two weeks (or more with the different engine HP limits) before you know who really won if I understand how to read a calendar. Additionally, if a team appeals, the final decision won't be until that Wednesday. Moody says that NASCAR officials have been monitoring social media. Oh my God! That is the fan's voice? Oh my God!

You're well aware of all of the things that they could do to him if they so chose to. Drive him right out of the sport.

Don't sell NASCAR short. They aren't that stupid. Big Ball France made his statement when NASCAR was bigger than the driver because he didn't make the driver the centerpiece. Times have changed. You and I both know NASCAR will not run arguably the most talented driver out of the sport. They just won't.

you guys should get together, one crying for 17 and the other for the OSS tent. Now called the Room of Doom.

How soon they forget. Kryle's disastrous Xfinity team, suspended form all Nascar racing, M&M's hanging on by a thread. ho hum. Could have sworn that was pretty real

The point was that they could if they so wanted.

I'm glad they keep him around, but every once in a while Nascar has to put him in his place. Talk about show time. He does his little bow and everything, tailor made for what is to come. hope he tries to take another swing at Joey when he blocks him.

The unintended consequences of these changes could be quite comical. I’m looking forward to Lew’s opinions on this.

you are confused. The penalty is 70 points taken away for that infraction. That amounts to almost two races in points not the win and the money on that particular thing if it is the car that won. It will set a team back a bunch.

It will change a half dozen times so I wouldn’t worry about it.

That particular thing is the engine. No biggie. Right? Sheez.
