2019 Clash RACE thread

It is only 5:40. When pooba Montoya hit the jet dryers they waited until 2 in the morning to finish while it drizzled all around the speedway to make sure Blaney didn't win.

At least Jamie McMurray won that race... The biggest robbery in the history of NASCAR!!!!!

Just finished watching the Clash....I’m always more excited for the Twin 125’s this race to me is just a reminder that NASCAR is back. Some of you all’s bitching is in mid season form....and as for the reaction on JJ’s move, I’d have to ask is this the first restrictor plate race you’ve watched?

About the only way you could move the Clash away from this weekend is to do it on the Wednesday night (the day before the Duels). Because you still have to make sure there's garage space for the Xfinity and Truck Series, so you would need the ARCA cars cleared out of there. I really don't see them getting rid of the Clash anytime soon as long as Advance Auto Parts is sponsoring it. Plus, you need Fox to go along with that.

I passed on the race and will pass on whatever the twins are called these days. Daytona-Talladega style racing is not my favorite so it didn’t make sense to watch. I am going to see a good bit of the 500 though.
Why? Its the same thing. Make sure when the 500 is over you give us your I hate it report and TV ratings.

It's Unofficial now they have to untangle fenders and bumper covers and try to look thru the smoke on the replays to get it right. :D Looks at first glance that the Chevy's had a pretty good day considering

I had 4 sporting events going on at the same time that I had a vested interest in, PGA Golf, Cincinnati-Houston bball, Sixers-Lakers bball and NASCAR. The NASCAR race was a bit disjointed but up until the wreck I was satisfied with the product for the most part minus the inevitable "big one". I would love to see more "boring" strung out, sling shot passing plate racing. The lack of accountability and fear in modern NASCAR has destroyed the quality of racing at Daytona and to a lesser extent Talladega.

And don't forget the audience is getting older.

Sadly I can attest to this ;)

But, but by some metrics I'm a millennial so I dunno. Maybe I just need some refinement. All I know is I remember watching the 1987 Winston 500 as a kid for whatever perspective that is worth....

Im trying to narrow you down. Were you a track owner? Um no, how about a share holder? No, How about a ticket seller? Scalper?

Do you need to be one of those things to be surprised by 5000 people attending the event?

Its not 1979, 80 81 etc... People watch in many different ways. BUT, with that said, NASCAR is on FOX and NBC and thier affialiates and the ENTIRE season is on TV and will be for years to come. You will be gone before it ever gets to a place where its not available for fans to watch

IDK why you are being so defensive as it doesn’t make sense. I thought that more than 5000 people would show up to see cup drivers on track. If you think 5000 people represents a good size crowd that is fine.

But...he’ll still be around as (ex) fans continue to elect not to watch or attend.
:)

I dont know how many people were there, you took the numbers from someone elses post. It was an exibition race and I would imagine a couple million watched it on TV. Nobody really cares what you think, its obvious to all that you are an antagonist.

That Lagana boy looked good, I can't believe Kez stayed behind Hambone and didn't drop down for Joey when he had a line working.
Yeah barring elimination by way of Johnson I'm confident he'll be a serious contender for the 500.. but he always is on plate tracks so I'm not surprised

Well I guess from the point of view he had it may not have been as obvious... but for everyone else including the hoards on Facebook whining about it it should be fairly obvious
yeah I believe the rules say if driven down there it isn't a problem, Menard was turned sideways at that point and contact had already been made Joey was going where they weren't and Kurt lost a lot of speed being on the brakes.
