2019 Clash RACE thread

Anyone see the "oncoming" view? 21 came down a bit. Menard admitted so at first also. But that view shows the 21 came down. Jimmie wins regardless of the wreck cause it started raining.

Anyway 48 had a run, 22 came down just a little, and the side draft pulled the 21 into him as the 21 was coming down a bit. The oncoming camera view showed it, whether people want to admit it or not. It's plate racing. But if Menard or people want to knock down a 7 time champ/80x race winner's aggression for creating an unfortunate racing incident (21 came down, and Jimmie's side draft pulled him into him) while going for his first win in almost 2 years, I'm sure Jimmie cares so much. It's racing. People get upset. Things happen. Mistakes happen. Move on.

Also, good to be back guys.

Haven't been on since last year, hope you all had a good New year's.

I'm a Menard fan. It was boring to watch all that single car racing, but, at the same time, it was cool to see him lead a ton of laps. I was praying for rain and it did come, I just wish he saw that run by the 48 coming. Once Jimmie, got to the inside, Paul was toast. It did look like Paul held his line. It sucks that the guy who caused the wreck won. When Paul lead the final restart, I really thought he had a chance to win it.

Typical post from you. 48 can do no wrong.

We're calling for Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson's heads after one non-points race. Off seasons are rough.
I know really lol

His 2013 Daytona summer win was bad, this? This was a racing deal where the 21 came down, and then was pulled into the 48 by the 48's attempt to side draft. Menard said he came down, until the replay gave him an opportunity to sublimate his fustrating onto Jimmie.

It's plate racing. It happens.

Yep, seems to have a bit of a struggle telling the truth about what happened.
eh sure he didn't have politician skills, took him awhile to get around to it. Didn't want to throw his friend under the bus, DW saved him. :p

Sorry but this is exactly why no other sport has announcers with a vested interest in a participant calling events. Watching Gordon (and the other two) tapdance around Jimmie's move is embarrassing - from a lifelong Gordon homer.

DW at least sort of set him straight, while trying not to embarrass the guy.

Next time I hope whomever it is turns back into.the 48 and wrecks him too!

For me it is not so much of exactly why the wreck occurred, but that the race was called and Jimmie won. I actually like Jimmie, but this plain out sucked.

I agree. Anticlimactic and dull. NASCAR for you. But the wreck created this circumstance unfortunately.

It wasnt boring, it wasnt unexpected, its a race, you position yourself and when the time comes you make a move. Everyone knew that last restart was gonna finish it which explains why the bottom formed up and these guys made daring moves. it i what it is.

Not much you can do when you get clipped in the left rear corner panel.JJ has been a hack at Daytona for some time now. He's either spinning on his own coming off turn 4 or causing crashes. If I was a driver I'd be extremely cautious if I was around him.

I said his attempt to side draft pulled the 21 into him. I said mistakes happen.

Good to see you too, thanks.

No doubt **** happens. But the 48 drove through the 21. It was obvious IMO. He’s done it before at these types of tracks.

It’s all good though. On to the Duels.

You people suck the life out of everything. Just so much negativity here. Nothing suits any of you. Really need to find another sport you ENJOY.
The NBA lol

That was 100% blatant, desperate move by Johnson to win this race. He knew rain was coming and if he doesn't wreck Menard he loses this race.

Edit: Sorry for the overreaction. After watching the second replay again, you can see Jimmie tried to get back in line once he realized Kurt wasn't gonna follow him.

Also, is this a good build?

I'm glad many seem to enjoy the race the watched today. Hopefully that racing can translate over to many new fans feeling the same.

I'm a huge fan of this sport and not normally too criticle of the on track product. I've liked most of the racing that I've seen over the years including many of the restrictor plate races. I wasn't able to get too excited with what I was watching today. Without restarts to shuffle things up for a few minutes, while they got back into line, there was very little action. The pass that was finally able to get me to the edge of my seat resulted in a massive pile of DNF's. Hopefully some new eyes, come Daytona 500 Sunday, are treated to a much better race.

Not with that forecast. The days of having to buy tickets in advance are gone, unless you want a specific seat. Wait until a week out before making a commitment.
Yep. I bought my tickets 1 hour before qualifying started and even then I was pretty iffy. $120 seats thru the track and I got them for $50 each. Still probably overpaid based on what we got in return. They need to reevaluate this event. I feel bad for anyone that paid those box office prices.

I didn’t see the race but I second your thoughts about hoping it is a good 500.

They should sell a "speedweeks pass" which gives entry for practice, qualifying, the clash, and the twin 125's

Wow! $120 for an event like that seems out of line. Was there a decent crowd?

It is only 5:40. When pooba Montoya hit the jet dryers they waited until 2 in the morning to finish while it drizzled all around the speedway to make sure Blaney didn't win.
If this were the 500 they probably would have done the same, but it was just an exhibition race that doesn’t mean a whole helluva lot.

I passed on the race and will pass on whatever the twins are called these days. Daytona-Talladega style racing is not my favorite so it didn’t make sense to watch. I am going to see a good bit of the 500 though.
