More of the same.

These Elk are wild, not tame or domesticated at all.

This is the reason there are fatalities at the Grand Canyon and other places. People crossing the barriers and leaning back to take selfies.

Absolutely unforgettable.

Nothing spoils a fun time like a tooth ache!!! What a downer but mostly because you never got to meet up with TRL. I was really looking forward to hearing about your visit and feel bad for both that it never came to pass.
Welcome back to Florida! Hope the rest of the trip was successful in every way.

Now ................................ about those pictures ...............................:)

The beast (our trailer) is perfect for us. It's just shy of 35', has a large slideout, full Queen size bed, couch, booth style dinette, full kitchen, full bathroom with shower and tub and two bunks which we use for storage. We have two flat screen TVs with an automatic Dish Satellite TV antenna, a jet pack for the laptop, tons of storage and grill, griddle, slow cooker, microwave, fry daddy etc. But the main thing for us is we can stay at State and National park campgrounds where anything larger can't stay. That's why we bought this one 7 years ago. The truck is at a different angle and a lot closer than the trailer so the depth perception makes the trailer look smaller than it is

The sign in California that pissed me off every time that I saw it. Traffic, especially big box trucks, passing us at 75 and 80 mph isn't much fun. One of the dumbest damn traffic laws that I've ever seen.

Our trip was 31 day's long 7,928.8 miles traveled and $2,912.08 spent on gas. We traveled through 11 states twice for a total of 22 States. The most expensive gas was a tie at $5.00 a gallon outside of Las Vegas and $4.99 a gallon in Centerville CA. Too many grins to count, surely several million. :D

That's really not a bad fuel bill for that many miles of towing. Probably 850-900 gallons or so? Or about 30-35 fillups.

Brings back memories, my Dad took us to Lake Shasta when I was 4, those sequoias were even tighter back then and we borderline got stuck in them with an F350 extended cab, I cried when we caught a trout I didn't want to hold it up for a picture. Can't believe that many people on guard rails at the Grand Canyon, different times.

You're close. It was 42 stops, 883 gallons, a 21 gallon average stop at an average of $3.30 a gallon. I have a 32 gallon tank but while traveling, especially in the desert and /or mountains, I stop between a 1/4 and a 1/2 a tank. And you're also right about the total cost, it was less than I thought that it would be.

The snow was still pretty heavy in the mountains.

Waterfalls and rapids abound.

We saw several of these in California and thought that they were a hoot. Sleeps four with a kitchen in the back. :D

This pole was occupied by four acorn woodpeckers next to our site in the Island Park NP Campground. They flew off when we got close enough to take a picture.

El Capitan in Yosemite NP. It's the best picture that I could get without trekking in which I didn't think was a good idea to get a picture of a 3,000' vertical rock.

I had to swing out to miss this one. Looks by the scars like a lot of drivers wasn't paying attention.

The wife trekked in and got this great picture of El Capitan and a waterfall from a different angle.

What great pictures!! The waterfalls are stunning as are the redwoods. That rock hanging over the roadway, were there warning signs of the height and people hitting it because they missed the signage or were not paying attention?

That is a lot of driving in such a short time frame. You saw a lot and covered great deal of real estate. Hope it was as much fun for you as it was for me to read of your adventures. :)

There were no warning signs. I kept my eyes on the road as much as possible on such a great trip. And yes we had a blast. It was spaced just right to avoid sensory overload.

My tooth kept me from climbing this mountain at Hueco Tanks State Park TX with Mrs Johali. We met a really nice young lady at the park indoctrination (you have to certify before they let you in) that joined the wife for the trek. They had a blast.

Planning for next year? And here I am trying to work out details for our Christmas Golf Cart Parade and celebration in December. :D

Did the Ram perform well for you with no known deficiencies.

I  my 2013 Ram. It replaced the older Chevy I had and decided to sell after I got run off the road and did not have collision coverage. No damage to the vehicle but it scared the crap out of me and made me think I was driving a fairly expensive piece of equipment with no air bags and that was the catalyst to sell. The Ram had 30,000 mis. and not a scratch on it, the interior like new. It rides better than my Bride's suv. I get between 16 and 18 outside the city limits and 15 to 16 in town. Haven't pulled anything but like the idea they put that setup on the truck when manufactured.
My Bride is a farm girl who learned how to drive on a CJ-2 and has no quarrel with driving my pickup. Even she says it rides super and likes to travel in it.

No problems at all with the truck. Just the brake check that I talked about earlier and I noticed that the two rear tires and one trailer tire was wearing a little more than I liked so I had them replaced. The truck averaged about 9.5-10 mpg pulling the trailer which is what I expected with all of the mountains and high altitudes.

Our Duramax averages about that on the highway, but we have alot more weight and drag than you do. But for an annual trip, what you have is perfect.

We have Firestone Transforce tires on all 5 axles. 12 tires is an expensive bill, but they will last a long time, especially since the trailer is kept inside. The truck tires will dry-rot before we wear the tread off.

Which Transforce do you use? H/T or HT2 ? I just looked them up and I'm impressed.

I think the HT2 but I could be wrong.

What alot of folks do here is run them for 2-3 years (but relatively low miles), then sell them to somebody with a 1/2 ton truck for half the new price.

Thanks, I'm going to look into them.

Great pics @Johali . Glad you had a great trip.
I've already started working on next years Vacation. If you don't start really early you wont get the good reservations if any. It's just a preliminary layout and It'll be changed several times but ya gotta start somewhere. We'll start with the Kansas race and work from there. It's taken many years but this trip will cap off the lower 48. If it's something that interests us It's been checked off of the list.

The Olympic National Park near Port Angeles. We may add a trip across the Strait to Victoria and play tourist for a day or so. No need getting that close and not looking it over.

Yes the ferry to Victoria would be great. Like you say so close....kinda crazy not to.

Strait of Juan de Fuca....I've been to Victoria several times from Vancouver....around 25 years ago!!

My Bride an I spent five days in Vancouver and took day trips. One of the side trips we took was to Victoria. It is a beautiful place and has a lot to offer.
Really liked Vancouver but five days was too much tagged on the end of a two week land and cruise tour to Alaska

You are visiting some parts of the U.S. of A. we have never seen. Looks to be a great trip. Would like to hear some of the places you will be stopping.
