Dirt Late Models 2021

Were they just not able to work on the track much with last night's rain? This catfishing around the bottom stuff, when that's the only possible line, gets old fast.

Not for sure. Looks like they might be doing some work on it, hopefully.

Qualified @ 15 seconds, raced @ 18 seconds lap. Back in the day, with the first cheap 406's, we'd pull a plug wire off and smoke their asses. Diamond. That. Track.

Eh. I hope the next couple nights are better. Getting the track right has been a challenge this week. Nice to see Richards rebounding.

I don't know why. But over the last few years, the Thursday night program has been the stinker of the week.

Doug Williams went for wild ride during Mod Lite hot laps at Lake View Motor Speedway
Driver is okay, but will not be racing in tonight’s #SOTBShowdown.

The track is a lot better tonight and I hope it stays that way. These heat races are racier than any I've seen this week.

I found it. Hey, at least he didn't drive around the track backwards this time.

What a clown. Glad he was bounced for the night.

If I was Lucas I'd call him "to-the-truck" and just hand him a small slip of folded paper. It would have the # for WoO. Tell him that's your new series for next 3 seasons, IF they'll have you.

You know that he's indefinitely suspended from WoO and can apply for reinstatement at some point this year?

I didn't know that. Thought his previous **** fit was at a Lucas race. Well...they should both just send him home for rest of season. Butch McGill used to do this **** regularly back home in WV. Hated that dude.

This race is very good and makes everything else that has happened this week look really sad by comparison.

This year's races at East Bay where a bit of disappointing compared to the last number of years. The new dirt they brought in threw a bunch of people for a loop.

Guess my info was wrong. Heard Harry Gant was bring the Hudson House Car out tonight. No 3 wheeling bullsheet with that car!

So what the heil happened to Davenport on that start? Get his foot stuck on the brake pedal? Hate when the supposedly informed announcers prove they have no idea how a car works. Kept saying RR wheel locked up. BOTH were sliding.

I didn't watch the heats tonight. How did Davenport, Richards, Overton, O'Neal end up in the same B-Main? Results are all over the place this year.

Weird to see Bobby Pierce running something different than the top, and almost winning with it. Pretty good final night of racing for a while for Lucas.

I don't make a point of watching much UMP / IMCA / USMTS type modified racing anymore, but watching a bit tonight at Volusia. They've borrowed a lot from late model tech with the rear steer, twisted bodies, and suspension setups, even with the little hockey puck tires they run. These things are far more planted than they used to be.

Strickler has said that the late models are actually harder to drive, which is a bit counterintuitive, because he says with the amount of tire and grip the late models have, you have to drive them a lot harder to run up front.

Seems to me they have basterdized those cars so much from what they were created for it's stupid. They were intended to be a cheap way to go racing. Had claimer rules on engines & restrictions on susp/shocks. Now I bet you can build a crate 602 as cheap and set-up info is easier to obtain plus transfers directly to higher classes. Everything I've ever raced has had the 3 rich guys that ruin it for everyone else. Buddy & I discussed creating a go-kart series where you rent your engine/clutch exhaust & tires from the series. Luck of the draw. Harbor Freight Predator engine. Put the fun back in racing. Faster, while fun, is also more expensive & more dangerous. Most of us have to work the next day.

As I've said many times that I don't know why but I like Big Blocks and the small blocks we have in the Northeast they put on much better show then there's types of mods.

This is a pretty cool in-car clip and shows how much they are wrestling these things when the track slicks off.

Bobby Pierce holds off Devin Moran chasing him for most of the way to get the victory. Both of those guys have been running stronger this year than I remember them being last year.
