Get out of the way Logano

Yup. 22 has nothing to lose. Hope he makes the 11 life miserable with all Denny’s chirping. Did he ever respond to Smoke’s offer to kick his ass?
Neither of them commented on that, as far as I know.

Wouldn’t have expected Logano to. He played it cool after Martinsville and don’t run his mouth. Can’t understand why Denny didn’t respond? Afraid of his fat, out of shape, ex-teammate? Tony got that Harrick bluff in on him I guess.

Smoke had his chance when he raced against Logano and never did -- so he probably just needs to stop posturing, especially after having to deal with other issues.

Two handed shove and Tony couldn't even knock the kid down.

He and his Intern Harvick are both pretenders. Should just stick to what they are good at and leave the badass act to MMA fighters.

The Morning Drive (Sirius) had Joey on this AM. I believe he's agreed to come on the show for an hour or so weekly to be interviewed by the morons Bagley and Pistone. I have to admit, the morons asked the questions everyone wanted to hear. As to what happened on the final lap, Joey said he threw a mild block and it looked to him from video that McDowell already had Brad sideways with a bump that wasn't square and that is how it went down. More wordy of course but the gist of it.

I guess it's out that he and Brad are not speaking so they asked him about that and he said they will, they have to. Likened it to a marriage. At some point they will have to talk about it and get their feelings out.

He also said he felt worse for Team Penske about it since there were about 400 families that were wondering where their 500 win bonus was. Thought that was interesting. I could see some divide in the entire Penske operation assigning blame....

A caller asked him if he ever took a young driver aside and counseled them on something they did incorrect, stupid, or could do better. He said he hasn't as he doesn't feel its his place to coach anyone unless asked. He said nobody out there can't drive, they all have had to prove themselves through Nascar's approval process, and were all champions in some respect.

Pistone then asked if anyone ever did it for him and he said Mark Martin did when he was a rookie. He was lapped and Mark was chasing someone for the lead or leading, can't remember? Joey was not giving him any breaks coming off the turns and Mark was stacking traffic up behind him. After the race Mark explained the situation and he was pretty embarrassed. He didn't think he was doing anything wrong then but realizes it now. He said not to be sounding arrogant but he had never been one getting lapped up until he got to the Cup series so he just thought running hard was what he was supposed to do.

Another person said that at his work the office all thought that Joey was known to be an aggressive blocker and wanted to know if he was concerned about his reputation of being too aggressive. He replied he wished they could see his "don't give a crap" expression. He's aggressive because he's paid to be aggressive and everyone is out there to win. He's not apologizing for it.

Just thought it was a pretty interesting interview. I'm sure it can be found on the net or Sirius site. If anyone else listened, what did I miss or misinterpret?

Joey has not been on the best terms with Keselowski and even Blaney at times.

Brad isn't going to do anything in terms of retaliation, however Brad is not going to give Joey the time of day when it comes down to another possible win. We know Joey doesn't give a **** when he's in the car, but Brad is real good at getting even by winning. Bad blood be damned with 35 more races in the season, I expect Brad to get even by beating Joey on the track.

This isn't the same Brad from like '14-15, both guys are married with families, so retaliation would be pointless with the possible risk of hurting one another.

I guess Chocolate Myers is right in that Joey is a lot like Dale. They just want to win, drive hard and don't show up at the track to make friends

Level headed and from where Joey and Brad are in their careers I would say Brad has no choice in the matter but to look at it the same way. If you go to war and Penske has to settle it, Brad would be outside looking for a new ride.

I think you hit the nail on the head. When the chips are down Logano is the number 1 driver

Brad carrying on like he hasn’t thrown bad blocks multiple times at plate tracks cracks me up lol
When? I know he’s blocked and when he made the statement after getting wrecked by Byron he said he wasn’t going to lift due to “bad blocks” so when has he performed them? The bad ones.

You think so? I mean I have no inside intel at what happens behind the doors a Penske, but Brad did get him his first cup championship so that has to pull some weight

It varies race to race, there to me is no clear number 1 at Penske.

Throw a blanket over them, but Logano since 2015 has been about as hot as they come.

Brad recommended him to Penske. Joey drove the car :idunno: Brad only getting a year's contract says something IMO.

Good luck with that

I don't want to get too derailed here being this is a Joey thread. But I remember a lot the rumors were Brad didn't think he was getting a fair offer (being that all salaries were dropping) and only wanted a 1 year deal in hopes that he could renegotiate the following year for a better deal. Sounded like Penske was offering a multi year deal.

Is that a head to head of all cup starts or just the Penske years after Joey joined the team.

That is a rumor. It's possible it is right. :idunno: The result for whatever reason is a one year contract and that doesn't happen that often with a blue chipper. Joey doesn't have a single year contract. Just as easily Penske could have said I'll pay your price, but if you don't do this and that, next year isn't going to be good for you come contract time.

One way to look at it was that if Brad would have held his position, Penske would have at least finished one and two. Because the wreck at lap 14 took out the bottom lane of cars for the most part about all that was left was a last lap hail Mary. Harvick said Brad wasn't in a position to win the race. I think Cendric was in a top 5 position also. Instead he tried to pass the most aggressive driver AND his team mate in the series and wrecks everybody.

"He's just doing what he thinks he needs to do to." - Kevin Harvick

If Logano did not throw a **** block, Brad would have won the race or they would have been neck-to-neck to the end. I get it, but this is why Logano is given no slack when it comes down to it. Nothing wrong with blocking, but the late reactions of his blocks are irritating.

Remember this from the Clash last year?

It's the reason why Brad was so irritated because its carried on from last season. Logano is hyper-aggressive, but his blocks make me wish someone would just send him most times. It's the last lap of the 500 as well, so guys are getting antsy.

oh B.S. you are are irritated, you don't know what the hell Kez is thinking. He could have been thinking. I wonder what Rodger is going to think about me wrecking out all three Penske cars in the biggest payday of the season

Logano's track record of over-aggressiveness is starting to catch up with him. And now he's done it on a teammate in a big spot (even though far from his worst example). That's fine, he can take the approach of putting on the helmet turn into a monster, just don't get surprised when inevitably you get dive bombed. Like Bristol last year:

"passed him clean" uhh no you didn't Joey, you chopped his line and Chase cut you a break, till the next lap. Can't wonder why.

full disclosure: guy's like Logano are necessity, good for the sport because they take it to the edge of daring someone to outright wreck them. I don't care for some of his moves, it's not what I would do, but I get the value that he brings. NASCAR needs guy's like this that aren't afraid to ruffle some feathers.

I keep hearing about bad blocks but as soon as Brad yanked the wheel to the left to pass Joey, he got hooked by McDowell who was pushing him. Brad shot to the right and took Joey out from the left rear.

It doesnt matter who makes that block or diving pass, they get turned by the #34 by how hard he was pushing - which is not his fault. They were all pushing without lifting.

This is a product of the current package with the bug runs, the giant spoilers killing visibility, and the refusal of the drivers to race harder earlier in the race to know how their cars would react in dicey situations.

The blame game is waste of energy.

tell Kez not to back up to McDowell next time for a last lap hail Mary ;)

After seeing the replay from Logano's rear bumper it's clear that Brad getting turned was what hooked the 22. Bottom line this is a product of pack racing and waiting till the last lap to make a move. As for any bad blood between Brad and Joey I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Whether Brad gets hit or not they wreck. Brad getting hooked just made it an even worse wreck. Otherwise Logano spins to the inside off Brad's nose

Yeah, he should have just stayed in line and been happy with 2nd. What a dumbass...and Harvick was obviously right. NO WAY that pass he was initiating was going to work with the best pusher on the track behind him.

I can only hope Brad realizes that the 22 is a blocker and makes no apologies for it So it’s coming.....no matter who is behind him.
