The Attendance Thread

Nobody said they were bragging about it (except for Cuomo and his lap dogs) and that was hardly my point
If you think being in the middle of the U.S. in deaths per 100,00 is worth Kudoing about so be it. The ol look over there at who is worse might be working for ya.

Kudos to Florida. One of the few states that has effectively handled this situation and still staying above the national average in cases.

I’ll be a little fair to NY/CA/MA/NJ because they’re so densely populated I get being a little more strict. This stuff spread so damn fast there last Spring when this first hit that it traumatized those folks because people were dying left and right.

With that being said, you certainly don’t need those rules anywhere down here. Hell once you get outside of Charleston there isn’t a damn thing

Many parts of Florida are very densely populated too.

Florida is average and that isn't something to brag about
Technically above average when it comes to state ranking at number 27 from the top. 🙃 We get a lot of bad press, so we'll take any positive that we can dig out.

Yet New York shut down everything and has the second highest death rate. Also remember Florida has a higher average age of population than most places.
This is what I think was the right approach. We didn't need a Governor to tell us what we should or should not do.
And as you said there are only a handful of states with an older average population. Our population does not consider snowbirds and almost all of them are 55 and older.

wasn't my point. None of this has any bragging rights and it isn't over yet. Never mind.

Because Cuomo.

THEIR problem is that they don't think it is stupid. It might sink in a little maybe when he hits the unemployment line.

That's like saying I won't watch Casablanca because it's in black and white.

Well at least they recently passed the enhanced unemployment so he will get an extra $300 in his check!

Thought about it for awhile and guessing it's referring to someone who is mentally challenged. ???

Announcers....Bowyer will be a mess. Not looking forward to this at all. A little goes a long way with him.

Sheesh, it’s a number.

It doesn't offend me but it does make it difficult for me to take an artist seriously. I get the message, "I can't keep you entertained by myself, so I have to include plenty of distraction.", especially when it's prominent in every form of performance the artist creates. If I was releasing videos, I'd want my face to have more total screen time than that of the dancing extras' butts.

Just one idjit's opinion. This comment isn't directed only at Pitbull.

1996? Really? Who cares.

Don't know if everyone else got to see this, but I didn't. We had two infomercials on instead. :{

Here's a list of guys I would have picked before MW. And in reality this is just nascar guys that I can think of. I'm sure the open wheel and dirt guys could add several other names.

1. Greg Biffle
2. Ken Schrader
3. Boris Said
4. Randy Lajoie
5. Matt Kenseth
6. Carl Edwards (dream)
7. Mark Martin
8. juan pablo montoya
9. marcos ambrose
10. Clint Bowyer
11. Ward Burton
12. Mike Skinner
13. Elliott Sadler
14. Sam Hornish Jr
15. Robby Gordon
16. Ron Hornaday jr.

I understand it, but my point is there is no guarantee that a longer window will result in earlier finish times. Technically better odds but at the end of the day, it is Florida and there is always a 50%+ chance of rain.

Most casuals also seem to prefer later start times and I'd bet that is the only reason the 500 was moved away from the noon slot.

Unfortunately it's going to be a politics game. Watkins Glen? They'd be lucky to get any fans in there. Texas Motor Speedway? Biggest crowd in 10 years.

Because Cuomo.

NYS is allowing outdoor sports venues to have fans at 20% of capacity. Not gonna be a lot of fans at the glen but there will be some.

Who knows. The talking heads say full vaccination by May. At that point we should be free to go.

I think Andy Slavitt said the US will have enough vaccine shots for everyone by the end of May.

It’ll take a while to get it to everyone who wants it .

If you don’t consider them, why are you vaccinating them?

You’re right about the governor thing. I wouldn’t let Ron Deathsentence tell me what to do either.

Based on overwhelming ticket demand, Nashville Superspeedway is adding additional grandstand seating for the “Ally 400” NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, June 20, track officials announced today.
The “Ally 400” NASCAR Cup Series race (2:30 p.m. CT, NBCSN) will be the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race in Nashville Superspeedway’s history and the first NASCAR Cup Series race in Middle Tennessee in 37 years.

What don't you like?
I don't like the fact so many entities are now going to require a vaccination to attend these events. Not everyone can get it, not everyone wants to get it. On top of that, it's nobody else's business. Today, they may ask for vaccination records, tomorrow it will be something else.

It's everybody's business.

Smallpox isn't around anymore. Why is that?

Is it everyone's business every fall and winter whether you'd take the flu shot or not? On smallpox, people don't take to take that every year like they will have to the covid vaccine.

I'm not anti-vaccine, I'd rather know about the long-term affects on people 10-20 years down the road. They don't know that and I'm super sensitive to certain medications. I'd rather them find a cure for it and we won't have to worry about these new strains.

Vaccines are the cure.

Like smallpox, measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, polio and so on.

Race tracks are private businesses. They have the right to set whatever legally accepted requirements they want. It’s no different than requiring shirts and shoes, or signing a waiver. If enough people vote with their wallets, businesses will change their policies.

Besides, it’s not like you and I are VIPs or sponsor guests being invited to these events. By the time tracks ready to fully reopen to everyone, maybe enough people will have had shots so the policy is no longer needed.

I agree. But what if they start doing that just to attend a race? A couple of NFL teams have already suggested they will go back to full stadiums this fall, but only with vaccinated people. People who have already have Covid don't need to be vaccinated for a period of time. They already have their immunity. How long that lasts is still an unknown. Making a blanket statement is not good even if the intentions are good. That's been my point all along.

What if they do? They’ll either make money or fail. You and I won’t take it on the chin.

It’s not as if a vaccination is the only barrier to attendance. Tickets, travel and food costs, parking fees at some venues, maybe baby sitters and / or pet lodging are costs many can’t afford. Visiting a track infield or garage is a separate charge at most touring-series tracks. Despite the great improvements in handicapped services over the last 20 years, going to a race is now too challenging for my 88-year-old father.

Nobody guaranteed any of us that life would be fair. At least a COVID shot is free.

Agreed. I don't really get the anger towards it, especially with the fact the actual virus isn't even in the shot. Heck you've got to get a few shots before attending public school

Some organizations may require it, others may not. The invisible hand will take care of it.

At least a COVID shot is free.
The federal government has paid billions in tax payer dollars to big pharma for vaccine study, approval, unit purchases, and distribution.

Free it is not.

NASCAR might see some of their biggest attendance numbers in years. The pent up demand for hospitality and entertainment is through the roof, and has been for months.

Strike while the iron is hot.
This goes back to what I've said less is more. Reduce the number of races or reduce capacity of races, people will drive up the demand.

I know our work is requiring it by the end of 2021 or you will be terminated. Of course they aren’t mandating it for employment, just meetings and travel. So if you’re an employee who cannot attend meetings or travel for business...

They already do that for entre into the school system. You may want to express your rights to not prevent the spread however I suggest they go back to having leper colonies for those people.
