Has Kevin Harvick (at age 43) Lost A Step?

A thread about the choker who without question has has been the best at SHR every year he has been with the team.

Often made by fans of the Mr Wondrful that has been so throughly dominated by his own teamate.
He's even taking away his road course Ws.
Harvick is a useful distraction to many.

You do realize that Kevin cost Chase’s shot at a win at Bristol first, right? If Kevin races Chase clean instead of clearing him out and cutting the #9’s tire, Chase has no reason to retaliate by blocking Kevin in the final laps.

Kevin started this whole mess, has tried to play the victim, and has still had his clock cleaned.
The 9 ran him down right on his door, that's why the 4 got loose and ran the 9 back up the track and how the tire got cut. Kevin didn't initiate the Bristol deal

There's been a lot of built up anger. Larson has ran circles around Elliott.

Even though I'm an ex Harvick fan and a current Elliott fan I agree with you 100%. Neither driver is innocent and now that both drivers have played their games I hope they just go back to racing. I still like Harvick and don't hold yesterday against him but if he keeps it up then I will probably lose some of the respect I do have for him... and the same goes for Elliott.

Larson hasn't TAKEN anything besides Sonoma. Don't let facts get in the way of trying to get under the skin of the 9 fans though.

I just want it to be 2022 so I can have the offseason to get over this, and be a Harvick fan again lol. Doubt the dude is done winning. He’s frustrated, he hasn’t won since last year. Chase right now is the one in his head, living rent free. Hopefully Kevin is done being a dick.

Yeah I dont buy it. Guys were going 3 wide all night and this didnt happen over and over. A deal where they were pushing further and further with the laps closing down and Harvick went in over his head.

i.e. Kyle Busch v Dale Jr at Richmond.

Nice try.
The numbers don't lie.
Well to be fair the word taken changes things a little bit depending how you look at it. He didn’t take yesterdays win from him, Kevin took that away. He didn’t take Glenn away, Chase’s crew screwed him there and he ALMOST came back to win it. He won COTA and Road America. Neither won Daytona RC, as well as neither won the Indy RC. So if you look at it in that way, Larson didn’t take the wins.. something else happened to change the game. 3-2 on Road Courses and two of the 3 for Larson someone else did something to Chase.

2021 season to date - Elliott v Larson

Wins - Larson +5

Top fives - Larson +4

Top tens - Larson +5

Laps led - Larson +1484

Yes, you read that correctly.
Yep. Larson has absolutely whipped Chase's (and everyone else's) a**es this year. No sugarcoating or way around that.

Well let’s read the post it was too

it said road courses

That’s 3-2.

If someone wrecks you, and you lose, the winner didn’t take the win from you, unless the person who wrecks you is who wins. So. Yesterday. Kevin took the win away from Chase.

WG, Chase has pit road problems. Nothing at all to do with Larson.

so I mean like it was said, Sonoma.

What would you have him do, go kiss Kevin's ass? Apologize for for getting screwed over twice by Kevin?
nope, just show Kevin on the opening lap that his race will be over if he tries anything again. and continue this until Harvick gets tired of wrecking.

@Revman called it as it happened at Bristol - Chase's run ins with Harvick were helping the cause of Chase's actual biggest threat being Larson.

As for actual speed on RCs it's a wash but that's bad news for Chase - especially if Chase isn't maximizing his finishes at them because he's waging war with Harvick. Chase better hope Harvick is over it so he can push to go back to back. I've been very entertained by their feud but I won't act like it's smart for either to plan their entire weekends around wrecking eachother. Chase has a lot more to lose this year as well.

That's just it: this thing is being perpetuated by one side. It's done. Chase cost Harv one. ONE position. Harv beat on the 9's door all night at Darlington, junked him (albeit accidentally I believe) at Bristol, and intentionally junked him at Roval. If you listened to Scott Miller on Sirius XM this morning, he all but threatened to park the 4. NASCAR will be reading the riot act this week.

We wanna talk numbers

Championships

Chase: 1
Larson: 0

see I can move goal post also to change the subject at hand!

Let's face it chase is clearly the number 2 team at HMS this season and that has to sting after winning the championship last season. Actually he's the third team at HMS as far as wins go

Nascar loses credibility with their obvious favoritism. It’s becoming a made for TV reality show with a little bit of auto racing mixed in.

Not at all. But are we gonna post numbers that move the goal post? Cause that’s exactly what you did.
I post whatever I feel like posting. Those statistics are relevant to the conversations going on here regarding those 2 people, including the most recent road course discussion.

Rather than bleating about my tangent-leaping off-topic post, why don’t you comment on the numbers I put up?

I never said Larson wasn’t doing better. I just said he hasn’t TAKEN all his RC wins away. Yeah Larson is doing better this season. Show me where I said he didn’t.

I'm not arguing that I'm just saying Chase didn't stand to gain much by giving Harvick the time of day and it costed him much more than it helped him. I watched my guy win 7 titles by (usually) keeping a clean nose and not getting hung up on short term petty stuff that doesn't help his long term chances.

Chase was justified to retaliate (especially yesterday) but didn't help himself by getting in the mud.

I think as far as Chase is concerned it was over when he left Bristol. Harvick is the one trying to keep this alive to show everybody what a badass he is. If you think ANY of this phases Chase, then you don't know much about him.

That might possibly be the dumbest thing chase could do. At this point kevin likely feels the score is settled. If you're running for a championship why keep poking the bear when he has nothing to lose and you have everything to lose?

Yeah. Chase needs to look ahead and not worry about ruining Kevin’s race. If Kevin had made Chase miss the cut for the next round, I say get him back. But Chase still is in it, that needs to be his focus

And where did that get Chase? Right or wrong he had a torn up car with no chance to win at one of his best tracks while his biggest threat to a repeat was first to cross the finish line. If he just let Kevin win at Bristol then Larson has at least one and possibly 2 less wins if Chase wins at the roval. That's potentially a 3 win swing we're talking about with this Larson vs Chase H2H.

Again, what has Chase done to escalate after Bristol? What could he have done yesterday? He passed Harv clean multiple times. Stay on the 4's bumper so that he never got the chance to dump him? Then the 4 would've just brake checked. Harv is being a complete and total ass, and I truly believe he's about to see NASCAR's ire behind the scenes. Oh, they'll market the hell out of it (and why wouldn't they?), but behind closed doors they are going to rip Harv a new one.

I didn’t say you did. For that reason, I’m not obligated to “show“ you anything.

Still nothing specific about the numbers? Look into the laps led category through HMS history. That’s an interesting one.

I'm mostly talking about the ripple effect caused by Chase losing his cool at Bristol. And to escalate he said over the radio he was going to wreck Harvick and I think he fully intended to if he had the chance. You can disagree on that hypothetical though. Doesn't change the fact Chase hurt his title run at Bristol by retaliating on track.

As for Harvick maybe someone here is arguing that he hasn't been a total ass throughout this but I'm definitely not. We agree on that.
