Looks like Aunty got his hand slapped? He's on ignore so don't know what brilliant response he composed. I'm sure it was strictly on point & not the least personal.

Rent free. I'm living rent free.
What BS....Taking a shot at the classiest poster here.....

What’s gone missing is the last shred of this guy’s credibility. A normal person would be humiliated by this embarrassment.

We won’t see a response to this post because he “has me on ignore.” amirite?

I just pray there'll be no "boost" gimmick... press a button and ZOOOOOOM.

Here's a thought- hybrid system but only use the stored electric for cautions and pit road. Go full electric during those periods. Then NASCAR can boast at the end of the year "we went xxxx miles this year under complete electronification". Sounds better than "with hybrid technology we increased our fuel economy from 3.5mpg to 4mpg". This would also NOT incentive the teams to "find the grey area" with the hybrid system as there's no reason to gain a competitive advantage with the field frozen under caution, thus saving them money compared to if they have the ability to tinker with it under race conditions.

It'll never happen though. So there's 4 minutes of my life wasted on typing for 30 internet people to read and love/hate/probably hate.

Wouldn't have to worry about saving fuel during cautious anymore. Would the small electric motor have enough to power to clean the tires?

Absolutely. If Bozi is right, you'll have an approximately 70 HP increase from that hybrid system

See WRC and their hybrid systems. They have boost, but it isn't a button thing...just part of stomping on it....and they are full electric in the Service Park...and some portions en route to stages. Mostly, hybrid in PR only, but serves as a foundation for more extensive application. Reality is that I am not sure that cars would be able to generate enough electrical power for yellows on ovals because there isn't enough braking? Maybe a pit lane thing? WRC teams don't even bother with the hybrid unit....nothing to gain there. In fact, some drivers shut it off on certain types of stages where increased torque is a disadvantage...think snow and ice....not a NASCAR deal, but might exacerbate a loose condition? NASCAR may not even allow them to shut it off.....Just spitballing....

Okay, I don't know squat about these systems. What does braking have to do with running off a battery?

I'm by no means a technical expert. But what I believe to be correct is that similar to the hybrid systems you see running in WEC and F1 when you brake the system captures that energy and stores it in the batteries. So without braking you would run out of juice.

So this would be useless at Daytona and Talladega? This isn't one of my usual cheap shots at those tracks; for once, it's an actual legitimate question.

I wouldn't be the right guy to answer for that, but my guess would be no.

The same question is being asked on the Indycar side too with our hybrid system set to start in 2024 and how that would work at Indy where its pretty much full throttle and rarely use the brakes.

Harvesting paddle to brush the brakes. Often in traffic they’re not running 100% trying to save fuel anyways.

Don’t know what NASCAR will do since Daytona, Talladega, and Atlanta are basically rolling gridlock though. The last thing you want in traffic like that is something else to fumble around with.

I recall a Nascar industry insider saying the hybrid system will probably only be installed for short tracks and road courses, as it would be totally useless at the plate tracks and *almost* useless at intermediate tracks. Especially with the very high drag the Next Gen car has, there isn't much braking pressure applied at most intermediates. I don't remember the source, but I'm sure it was a reasonably good quality insider source.

OK, here it is. An article from 2019, quoting Mark Rushbrook, the head of Ford Performance...

Rushbrook suggested that hybrid power would only be used on suitable tracks, such as road courses and short ovals, both of which would generate the braking energy required to power a KERS-style system.

KB seyz he wants to test the car at Martinsville next week without the sealed underbody and rear diffuser.

I love when drivers get frustrated with Bob Pocrass.

I know fans love the guy, but man, I can't stand him as a reporter. Apparently a lot of drivers cant either.

I hear the exact opposite.

Getting fustrated with Pockcrass is not an often sight to see or hear about. I mean this is Kyle Busch we are talking about.

This would make sense.

Totally. And he's earned his rep, and does his job well.

I'm just not a fan of him as a reporter.

Costly gimmick.
This is exactly what is being said in WRC. From the perspective of saving money, of course, this is an additional expense....but so was Next Gen in an of itself. In terms of relevance....this is an important step, and like so many other technological expenses, the thinking is to increase interest....more butts in the seats justifies the expense. I have always felt that NASCAR sold their souls to the driver personalities in terms of marketing. The car itself has been marginalized until this year. If the storyline about the car maintains traction (who knows), then this additional feature could draw interest even if it's more PR than performance. Unless there is a failure, it really has been a non-story in WRC. Then, that whole spec part fails, why should the team suffer a devastating penalty. Ott Tanak was complete screwed out of a good finish for this very reason, but WE won, so I didn't care.

Bob knows exactly who he is and exactly how he does what he does. He is clear that setting a driver off is going to get him exposure.

^Setting a driver off is a rarity in NASCAR propaganda media and a quality I appreciate in every type of journalist, whether it be in sports or political coverage.

I'm on his ignore list also. I didnt know how I would go on with life but I'm fighting the good fight.
