Cup RACE thread --- Texas

Ty-lance never solved anything

They said as much already yeah.

William deserve something.

Do you agree Ty Gibbs should also get in some trouble?
Absolutey. That could have been dangerous. Also, the kid isn't even a full-time Cup series driver yet any thinks he can just do that? Pretty entitled if you ask me

What do y'all think the penalty will be for Byron if they give him one

He should honestly be sat for a race. He damn near sent a car into a group of exposed officials/crew members. He doesn’t have driver points and some $25k fine is nothing for the golden grandson.
Agree. Pit road rules exist to protect the people that work there.

The inexcusable behavior of a petulant child should cost him a week off ... in both series.

I expect they’ll be reviewing the Byron/Hamlin incident also?

Yes, and if Byron gets a penalty, so be it. Denny got exactly what he deserved. He can cry all he wants, but that's what happens when you race like a dickhead. Other drivers aren't going to put up with your BS. For his own sake, Denny better chill out before he ends up with another broken back. Byron's bump was extremely tame, IMO.

Ty, on the other hand, overreacted to very minor accidental contact by a driver exiting his stall. Crybaby Ty could have hurt/killed someone on pit road with that little temper tantrum. Maybe Ty needs to hit puberty before he gets the green light to race in Cup.

Denny has to wear that chip on his shoulder like a badge of honor. Hope it works out for him at Phoenix if he’s there. 🤷‍♂️

Surprised Byron is getting all the attention for what he did, yet the Gibbs deal was much worse. Me personally, I'd let Byron off with a warning. Ty otoh, deserves a suspension imo. That was actually close to being a serious situation.

I wasn't able to watch race, so I lack the context needed for the incident. What did Denny do to Byron to get under Byron's skin like that?

Yeah, I thought ANYTHING on pit road was a huge taboo due to danger to the crew members. That should be hammered hard. Byron? I don't know, because other than bruising his ego Denny wasn't harmed as his position was given back, correct? Still a d**k move by Byron, but...

Correct.

Honestly, Denny did to Byron exactly what Byron did to Logano at Darlington..

Hamlin was to the inside coming out of turn two and sort of ran him into the wall. You could even see Hamlin lifted out of the gas to not get into him. I don't know if I would call it dirty but it was a little bit of an over-aggressive move. Which, at the time both drivers probably thought they were racing for the win.

Thanks @jaqua19 and @TheJester . Like I said, I completely lacked context. I don't even know at what point in the race it happened.
Oh...bit of a correction..

"Denny wasn't harmed because his position was given back, correct?".

Someone said yes to you earlier, but no. Hamlin did not get his spot back which is why it was outrageous. Byron dumped Hamlin under yellow, Byron didn't get penalized and Hamlin had to go to the back...

Yea Nascar messed up they should've sent Byron to the back with Hamlin.

Denny had chastained Byron and Byron tried to retaliate which never works out well for him.

how many times have we seen cars playing bumper tag under caution, on pit road or right after the checker. Millions of times. How often do the drivers get penalized, very rarely. What Byron did by showing Hamlin he wasn't happy with his move happens all the time. Hamlin just lost it and now it's a big deal. If Hamlin would have controlled his car this wouldn't even be a story. Ty Gibbs should be sat down for a week.

Summary, I'm a Chevrolet guy and hate Toyota! ;)

I didn't see the post...
Both drivers should be penalized,...or neither.
If one deserves a penalty then the other does also.
Yea, as I said I agreed Byron deserves one.

Tho it’s fair to say what Ty Gibbs did was worse. There was actual people in harms way. So if only he did, I could see the reasoning. But I still agree it should be both.

Seems to me it was alright for Hamlin to brag on TV he was going to wreck Brad in Juniors car and then go out and do it.
Seems to me he should shut his mouth before someone does it for him, car owner or not.

Hamlin might be a screwball, but If I needed a Nascar driver for MY team, as far as talent and focus he would be high on that list. Probably would include Chastain also but he makes some weird racing moves.

I thought Hamlin acting like a clown while under caution should have been worth something also. Oh well, next time :idunno:
